Interview Ka Call Aa Gaya, Lekin Company Ke Baare Mein Kuch Nahi Pata?#
Yeh situation almost har job seeker ke saath hoti hai.
Tumne 50-60 jagah apply kiya. Ek din achanak phone aata hai: "Hello, this is from ABC Technologies. We shortlisted you for SDE role. Can you come for interview on Thursday?"
Tum excited ho, lekin andar se panic bhi ho raha hai. ABC Technologies? Kaunsi company hai yeh? Kya karti hai? Salary kitni degi? Interview mein kya poochenge?
Aur phir tum Google karte ho, Wikipedia padhte ho, aur interview mein jaake generic answers dete ho jaise "I want to work at your esteemed organization because of its reputation."
Recruiter ko pata chal jaata hai. 10 mein se 8 candidates yahi karte hain. Aur 10 mein se 8 reject bhi hote hain.
Is article mein main tumhe exact steps bataunga company research karne ke liye. Woh bhi 1-2 ghante mein. Taaki interview mein tum woh candidate bano jo actually company ke baare mein jaanta hai, na ki woh jo Google se pehla result padhke aa gaya.
Company Research Kyun Zaroori Hai?#
Pehle yeh samjho ki interviewer company ke baare mein kyun poochta hai.
Woh test nahi kar raha ki tumne Wikipedia padha ya nahi. Woh check kar raha hai:
-
Kya tum seriously interested ho? Agar tumne company ke baare mein 10 minute bhi nahi lagaye, toh recruiter sochega ki tum kisi bhi jagah chale jaoge. Aur woh sahi sochega.
-
Kya tum culture fit ho? Har company ki culture alag hoti hai. TCS ki culture Wipro se different hai. Startup ki culture service company se bilkul alag hai. Agar tumhe pata hi nahi kya culture hai, toh tum kaise bataaoge ki tum fit ho?
-
Kya tum intelligent questions pooch sakte ho? Interview ke end mein jab recruiter bolta hai "Do you have any questions?", yeh tumhara sabse bada chance hota hai impress karne ka. Lekin sirf tab jab tumhe company ke baare mein actually kuch pata ho.
Real story: Mere ek dost ne Infosys ka interview diya. Usne company ki recent AI initiative ke baare mein research kiya tha (Infosys Topaz platform). Jab interviewer ne poocha "Why Infosys?", usne bola: "I've been following the Topaz platform launch. The way you're integrating AI into client solutions for banking sector is exactly the kind of work I want to do. I noticed you're hiring for the financial services vertical, and my project on fraud detection aligns well."
Interviewer impressed. Selected. 6.5 LPA offer.
Dusre candidate ne bola: "Infosys is a reputed company with good work-life balance." Rejected.
Difference? 1-2 ghante ki research.
Step 1: Company Ki Basic Information (15 Minutes)#
Sabse pehle basics clear karo. Yeh information har jagah mil jaegi:
Company Website (5 minutes)
- About Us page: Company kab bani, founder kaun hai, headquarter kahan hai
- Products/Services page: Company kya karti hai, kiske liye karti hai
- Careers page: Company ki hiring philosophy, values, aur culture statements
Wikipedia + Google (5 minutes)
- Revenue kitna hai (approximate idea ke liye)
- Employees kitne hain
- India mein offices kahan kahan hain
- Recent news (last 6 months)
LinkedIn Company Page (5 minutes)
- Total employees
- Recent posts (company kya share kar rahi hai, kya highlight kar rahi hai)
- "Life at [Company]" section (culture ka idea milta hai)
Note karo yeh sab ek Google Doc mein. Interview se pehle ek baar padh lena. Memory se nahi, notes se prepare karo.
Step 2: Financial Health Check Karo (10 Minutes)#
Yeh bohot important hai aur almost koi nahi karta.
Kyun? Kyunki agar company financially weak hai, toh:
- Salary low hogi
- Layoffs ka risk hai
- Growth opportunities kam hongi
- Work pressure zyada hoga (kam logon se zyada kaam)
Listed Companies (TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, etc.)
- Moneycontrol.com pe jaake company ka naam search karo
- Revenue growth dekho (year over year badh rahi hai ya gir rahi hai?)
- Profit margin dekho
- Employee count trend dekho (hire kar rahe hain ya fire?)
Startups
- Crunchbase.com pe search karo
- Last funding round kab hua? Kitna raise kiya?
- Agar 18+ months se funding nahi aayi aur company profitable nahi hai, toh red flag ho sakta hai
- Tracxn.com bhi useful hai Indian startups ke liye
Private Companies (Unlisted)
- Glassdoor pe revenue estimates milte hain
- Tofler.in pe basic financials mil sakte hain
- LinkedIn pe employee growth trend dekho
Example: Tum ek EdTech startup mein interview de rahe ho. Crunchbase pe dekha ki last funding 2024 mein thi, ₹50 crore Series A. Tab se koi funding nahi. LinkedIn pe dekha ki 6 months mein employees 500 se 350 ho gaye. Yeh danger sign hai. Interview mein tum pooch sakte ho (politely): "I noticed the team has been evolving recently. Can you share the company's growth plans for the next year?" Smart question, aur tumhe bhi answer milega.
Step 3: Glassdoor aur AmbitionBox Thoroughly Padho (20 Minutes)#
Yeh do websites Indian job seekers ke liye gold mines hain:
Glassdoor (glassdoor.co.in)
- Ratings: Overall rating, work-life balance, compensation, culture
- Reviews: Current aur ex-employees ki honest opinions
- Salary data: Role-wise salary ranges (kaafi accurate hote hain)
- Interview questions: Real interview experiences shared by candidates
AmbitionBox (ambitionbox.com)
- India-specific platform, more relevant for Indian companies
- Salary breakup (basic, HRA, PF sab alag alag)
- Interview experiences with difficulty level
- Company comparison tool
Kaise padhna hai reviews:
Sab reviews mat padho. Smart filter karo:
- Sort by most recent. 2023 ki review 2026 mein relevant nahi hai. Company bahut change hoti hai 2-3 saal mein.
- Apne role ke reviews padho. SDE ki experience sales ki experience se bilkul different hogi same company mein.
- Patterns dekho, outliers nahi. Ek review mein likha hai "worst company ever" aur baaki sab mein "decent place", toh woh ek outlier hai. Jo cheez baar baar aa rahi hai, woh real hai.
- Pros AND cons dono padho. Sirf cons padhoge toh har company buri lagegi. Sirf pros padhoge toh dhoka khaoge.
Red flags in reviews:
- "Long working hours" baar baar aa raha hai
- "Management doesn't listen" common theme hai
- "No salary hike in 2 years" multiple reviews mein hai
- "Bench period" frequently mentioned hai (IT services companies mein)
Green flags:
- "Good learning curve for freshers"
- "Manager is supportive"
- "On-time salary" (India mein yeh green flag hai, sadly)
- "WFH/hybrid flexibility"
Step 4: Interview Questions Research (20 Minutes)#
Yeh woh step hai jo directly tumhare interview performance ko improve karega.
Sources for Real Interview Questions:
- Glassdoor Interview Section: Company name search karo → Interviews tab → Filter by role
- AmbitionBox Interviews: Same concept, but more Indian responses
- GeeksforGeeks Interview Experiences: Technical roles ke liye excellent. Company-wise aur role-wise sorted.
- YouTube: Search "[Company name] interview experience 2025 2026". Bahut logon ne apna experience share kiya hai.
- Reddit (r/developersIndia): "Interview experience at [Company]" search karo. Raw, honest experiences milte hain.
Kya note karna hai:
- Technical questions ka pattern (DSA heavy hai ya project-based?)
- HR questions list ("Why this company?", "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?")
- Number of rounds
- Time duration per round
- Online test platform (HackerRank, HackerEarth, AMCAT, etc.)
- Difficulty level (easy, medium, hard)
Example research for TCS Digital interview:
- GeeksforGeeks pe search kiya: "TCS Digital interview experience"
- Found: 3 rounds. Round 1: Online test (aptitude + coding). Round 2: Technical (Java/Python basics, DBMS, OS). Round 3: HR.
- Coding level: Medium. 2 questions, 30 minutes.
- Most asked HR question: "Tell me about yourself" aur "Why TCS?"
- Salary: 7-7.5 LPA for Digital role
Ab tumhe exactly pata hai kya prepare karna hai.
Step 5: Company Ki Recent News aur Announcements (10 Minutes)#
Yeh woh secret weapon hai jo 95% candidates use nahi karte.
Google News pe jaake search karo: "[Company name]" aur last 3 months ka filter lagao.
Kya dekhna hai:
- New product launches: "I read about your recent launch of [product]. How is the team scaling it?"
- Partnerships: "The partnership with [other company] sounds exciting. Will the team I'm joining work on this?"
- Expansion plans: "I saw you're opening a new office in Hyderabad. Is this team part of that expansion?"
- Awards/Recognition: "Congratulations on the Great Place to Work certification. What do you think makes the culture special?"
- Layoffs/Restructuring: Handle carefully. Don't bring up directly. But be aware.
Indian IT companies ke liye specific sources:
- Economic Times Tech section
- YourStory (startups ke liye)
- Inc42 (startups ke liye)
- Mint
- Business Standard
Jab tum interview mein recent news reference karte ho, interviewer ko lagta hai: "Yeh candidate serious hai. Isne homework kiya hai." Bohot kam log karte hain yeh.
Step 6: Company Culture Ko Samjho (15 Minutes)#
Culture sirf "good work-life balance" nahi hoti. Culture ka matlab hai:
- Decision making: Top-down hai ya collaborative?
- Work style: Fast-paced startup style hai ya structured corporate style?
- Dress code: Formal hai ya casual?
- Communication: Hierarchical hai ya flat?
- Learning: Company training deti hai ya khud seekhna padta hai?
Culture Research Kaise Kare:
LinkedIn Posts: Company ke employees kya post kar rahe hain? Agar sab "grateful to be part of this amazing team" likh rahe hain toh ya toh culture actually achi hai, ya toh HR ne bola hai post karo.
Instagram/Twitter: Company ka social media dekho. Kya type ki content share karte hain? Office photos, team outings, hackathons, CSR activities?
YouTube: "Life at [Company]" search karo. Bahut companies apne official channel pe employee testimonials daalti hain. Scripted hote hain, but still some information milta hai.
Employee blogs: Medium pe search karo "working at [Company]". Engineers especially blog karte hain apne experience ke baare mein.
Kya main startup join karu ya corporate?
Simple framework:
| Aspect | Startup | IT Services (TCS, Infosys) | Product Company |
|---|---|---|---|
| Learning speed | Very fast | Slow initially | Moderate to fast |
| Job security | Low | High | Moderate |
| Salary (fresher) | 3-8 LPA | 3.5-7 LPA | 5-15 LPA |
| Work hours | 10-12 hr | 8-9 hr (mostly) | 9-10 hr |
| Growth | Unpredictable | Structured but slow | Merit-based |
| Brand value | Low initially | High for resume | Very high |
Step 7: Competition Ko Samjho (10 Minutes)#
Yeh advanced level hai, lekin interview mein fark dalta hai.
Company ke top 2-3 competitors kaun hain? Company kya different karti hai competitors se?
Example:
- Interview at Infosys → Competitors: TCS, Wipro, HCL → Infosys ka differentiator: AI-first approach (Topaz), strong US client base, higher margins
- Interview at Razorpay → Competitors: Paytm, Cashfree, Juspay → Razorpay ka differentiator: Developer-first approach, API documentation quality, market share in startups
- Interview at Flipkart → Competitors: Amazon, Meesho, JioMart → Flipkart ka differentiator: India-first approach, tier-2/3 focus, Big Billion Days
Jab tum bolo "I know Infosys is competing with TCS in the AI consulting space, but your Topaz platform gives you an edge because it's built in-house rather than being a partnership", interviewer sochega: yeh candidate business samajhta hai.
Interview Mein "Why This Company?" Ka Perfect Answer#
Ab tak ki saari research combine karke, yeh answer formula use karo:
Formula: [Company ki specific achievement/initiative] + [Tumhara relevant skill/experience] + [Growth alignment]
Bad answer: "TCS is India's largest IT company with good work-life balance and I want to grow my career here." (Yeh answer 10,000 candidates dete hain. Zero differentiation.)
Good answer: "Two things specifically drew me to TCS. First, I've been following your work on the TCS BaNCS platform for banking clients. My final year project was on secure transaction systems, and I'd love to work on problems at that scale. Second, I spoke to a TCS employee on LinkedIn who told me about the ILP training program, and the structured learning for freshers is exactly what I need at this stage. I'm not looking for the fastest salary growth. I'm looking for the strongest foundation, and TCS's training reputation is unmatched."
Dekho difference? Specific references. Personal connection. Honest reasoning. Yeh answer research se aata hai, talent se nahi.
Company Research Checklist (Print Karke Rakho)#
Interview se pehle yeh sab tick karo:
- Company kya karti hai (products/services) samajh aaya
- Revenue aur financial health check kiya
- Glassdoor/AmbitionBox reviews padhe (apne role ke)
- Salary range pata hai (realistic expectation set ki)
- Interview rounds aur pattern research kiya
- Last 3 months ki news padhi
- Company culture samjhi (work style, values)
- Top 2-3 competitors pata hain
- "Why this company?" ka specific answer ready hai
- Interview ke end mein poochne ke liye 3 intelligent questions ready hain
End Mein 3 Intelligent Questions Ready Rakho#
"Do you have any questions?" pe "No" bolna sabse badi mistake hai.
Yeh 3 questions almost har interview mein kaam karte hain:
-
"What does a typical day look like for someone in this role?" (Shows genuine interest in the actual work)
-
"What are the biggest challenges the team is facing right now?" (Shows you're thinking about contributing, not just getting a job)
-
"What does success look like in the first 6 months for someone joining this position?" (Shows you're already thinking about performing well)
Bonus question (agar recent news mili thi): "I read about [specific recent initiative]. How does this role connect to that project?"
Kuch Aur Tips#
Company ka Glassdoor rating 3 se neeche hai. Kya interview du?
Haan, du. But carefully. Low rating ka matlab yeh nahi ki company buri hai. Matlab yeh hai ki kuch cheezein problematic hain. Reviews padho, patterns dekho. Agar "delayed salary" ya "toxic manager" baar baar aa raha hai, toh soch lo. Agar "long working hours during project deadline" aa raha hai, toh woh almost har jagah hota hai.
Main ek chhoti company mein interview de raha hu jiska koi review nahi hai
Tab LinkedIn pe current employees ko dhundho. Unse politely connect karo aur poocho. Bahut log reply karte hain agar tum genuine ho.
Message example: "Hi [Name], I have an interview at [Company] next week for [Role]. I'd love to hear about your experience there if you have 5 minutes. Thank you!"
Research mein kitna time lagana chahiye?
1.5 se 2 ghante. Isse zyada mat karo, warna overthinking ho jaegi. Is article mein jo 7 steps hain, woh follow karo. Enough hai.
Ab Kya Karna Hai?#
Agar tumhara interview aane waala hai, toh abhi start karo research. Upar waali checklist use karo.
Aur agar tum chahte ho ki company ki saari key information (financial health, culture, competitors, recent news, interview patterns) ek jagah mil jaaye bina 10 websites khole, toh JobRise ka Company Insights tool try karo. Company ka naam daalo, aur 30 seconds mein poori research mil jaegi.
Taiyaari karo, research karo, aur interview rock karo. All the best!"
