Entry-Level Finance Jobs in Spain: How to Get Hired in 2026

JobRise Team6 min read

You want a first finance job in Spain, but almost every listing you open asks for three years of experience you don't have.

On 14 October 2026, the JobRise live jobs feed showed 23 open finance listings in Spain. That is a small pool, and what sits inside it matters more than the number itself.

What the numbers actually say#

Of those 23 open listings, 22 went up in the last 30 days and 12 in the last 7 days, so the slice is fresh even if it's narrow.

Look at who is hiring. Delivery Hero alone holds 15 of the 23 listings, then Euronet, Payments Infrastructure Segment has 2, and ARCHIMED, Colibrix One, Q ENERGY, Celonis, Exoticca and EnerMech have one each. Some of these are recruiters or staffing firms, so the real employer may sit one layer back from the name on the ad.

Cities: Barcelona (16), Madrid (4), Alcobendas (2), Port Of Spain (1). That last one is odd for a Spain filter. Read the location line twice.

All 23 are full-time. None shows a salary. That's the catch.

Now the hard part. Only 1 of those 23 listings looks entry-level, the "Junior Tax Analyst - HQ" role at Delivery Hero, and the rest read like "Reporting & Controlling Manager", "Controller MX Lead" or "Finance Director - Spain". Roughly 4 percent. The feed is a mid-to-senior market, so you can't rely on it alone and you'll have to build your own way in.

Titles worth targeting#

Junior titles in Spain finance are inconsistent, so search broadly and don't trust one keyword string.

  • Junior Tax Analyst, Junior Accountant, Junior Financial Analyst
  • Graduate and trainee programmes at banks and Big Four firms, which usually open in autumn for autumn starts
  • Becario de finanzas, Prácticas en contabilidad, Auxiliar contable
  • Controlling Assistant, Reporting Assistant, Accounts Payable and Receivable Clerk
  • Financial Planning & Analysis Intern, Audit Junior

One tip: search the Spanish words too. "Becario" and "auxiliar contable" pull up postings that never surface under English keywords.

Skills and proof they expect#

At this level nobody expects you to control a P&L. They expect you not to break the spreadsheet and to learn fast.

Excel is the gate. Pivot tables, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and knowing why a SUMIF returns #N/A. SQL helps for analyst roles, Power BI or Tableau shows up in reporting jobs, and Spanish GAAP with a working grasp of IVA and IRPF matters for accounting tracks while IFRS matters for group reporting.

Certifications that carry weight here: CFA Level 1 if you aim at investment or analysis, ACCA or CIMA for accounting and controlling, and the SAP FICO or Power BI certs for systems roles. None of them guarantees a job, but all of them signal you are serious.

Proof beats adjectives. A small portfolio project does more than a paragraph of soft skills ever will.

Worked example: a zero-experience resume bullet

Weak: "Responsible for analysing financial data and preparing reports."

Rewritten: "Built an Excel model tracking 3 years of public filings for 4 listed Spanish retailers, automating margin and working-capital calculations with Power Query, and summarised findings in a 6-page deck shared with my university finance society."

Same person. Same experience. One is a claim, the other is evidence.

Where entry-level openings get posted#

The graduate schemes of the big banks, the Big Four and the large consultancies run their own career pages, and they open in waves that close fast. University career services at ESADE, IE, Carlos III and Pompeu Fabra get internship pipelines that never hit the public boards.

Then there are the generalist boards, InfoJobs, LinkedIn and Indeed, plus the staffing agencies that handle many junior accounting roles. Check the JobRise Hiring Report: Spain for the wider picture: 308 open listings across all categories in Spain, 241 of them posted in the last 30 days, and finance is a slice of that rather than the whole market.

Staffing firms deserve a separate note. Several listings in the snapshot come from recruiters, so one application can reach multiple end clients.

The 7-step plan#

  1. Pick a lane. Tax, accounting, controlling, FP&A and audit each want a different profile, so choose one for the next 90 days.

  2. Fix the CV in both languages. Spanish first for local firms, English for multinationals, and keep it to one page with education above experience if you graduated recently. Our free resume builder formats this correctly in minutes.

  3. Build one proof project. A model, a dashboard, a filing analysis. Two weekends of work. Put it on the CV with a link.

  4. Get the keyword basics right. Mirror the language of the posting: if it says "controlling", don't only write "analysis".

  5. Apply in small batches with tailored bullets. Ten tailored applications beat fifty generic ones, because the recruiter skims for 6 seconds and you want that skim to land on something specific.

  6. Warm up the recruiters. Message the person who posted the role, not the company inbox. Two lines, your lane, your availability.

  7. Track everything. A simple sheet: company, role, date applied, contact, follow-up date, outcome. Follow up once after 7 days, then move on.

Interview prep is short at this level. Know the three statements, explain one project you built, and prepare a question about how the team works. Don't memorise definitions.

FAQ#

How many entry-level finance jobs are open in Spain right now?

On 14 October 2026, JobRise's live feed showed 1 of 23 finance listings in Spain with an entry-level style title. The count changes daily, so check the feed before drawing conclusions.

Do I need Spanish to work in finance in Spain?

For local accounting and tax roles, yes, because Spanish is the working language and you'll handle Spanish filings. Multinationals like Delivery Hero run in English, but even there Spanish helps with local stakeholders.

Is a master's degree required?

Not for junior accounting or AP/AR roles. For analyst, controlling and Big Four tracks a master's or a CFA/ACCA route is common, so read the posting instead of assuming.

Why do so many listings ask for experience?

Because companies hire juniors through internships and graduate programmes rather than public job ads, so the public market skews mid-to-senior. That is exactly what the 14 October 2026 snapshot shows.

Should I apply if I don't meet every requirement?

Apply if you meet about 70 percent of the list and can show proof for the missing bits. Skip roles asking for 5+ years, because the recruiter will filter you out before a human reads the CV.
