How to Get an Operations Job in India as a Foreigner
You are a foreigner who wants an operations job in India, and the hard part is not finding openings. It is getting permission to work, matching how Indian employers hire, and knowing which roles realistically consider candidates from abroad.
What the India operations market looks like right now#
On 14 October 2026, JobRise's live feed carried 235 open operations listings in India. 96 of them went up in the last 30 days, and 60 in the last 7 days. You can browse the full set in the India operations jobs hub.
For context, the same snapshot showed 1,867 open listings across all categories in India. The JobRise hiring report for India has the country-wide numbers and posting pace if you want to see how operations compares.
A few things stand out. Full-time roles dominate: 233 of 235 listings, with only 2 contracts. Salary is almost never shown; just 1 of 235 listings included pay, "Purchase Manager" at Kutty Flush Door & Furniture at ₹2.0-5.0 LPA. That range is what the listing posted, and pay varies a lot by role and city, so verify current figures with the employer or the official wage source before you plan around them.
Entry-level titles are rare. Only 1 of 235 listings looked like a junior, intern, graduate, or trainee role: "Junior Data Entry Operator" at Aerones. If you are early in your career, plan for a harder search than someone with five or more years of experience.

Which employers are large international companies#
By open listing count in this snapshot: Rentokil Initial (134), Bosch Group (17), Stripe (15), Stranger Soccer (7), Exponent Energy (6), Mongodb (6), Okta (4), Airbnb (4), Evidence Action (3), Datamark, Inc. (3). Some of these names may be recruiters or staffing firms posting on behalf of clients, so read each listing carefully.
The large international names in that list include Rentokil Initial, Bosch Group, Stripe, Mongodb, Okta, and Airbnb. Being a global company does not mean they sponsor visas for any given role. Never assume sponsorship. Ask the recruiter directly, early, before you spend weeks in process.
Sample titles show the range of work: "LOG - Physical Logistics ( Warehousing / Transportations/Logistic Quality /Logistic Cost)" and "SAP Project Manager (S/4 HANA Transformation)" at Bosch Group, "Lead - Vehicle Service- HV" and "Service Head (EV 3-Wheeler)" at Exponent Energy, and "Marine Personnel Assistant ( Temp Staff )" at Anglo-Eastern Ship Management. Logistics, warehouse management, procurement, service operations, and SAP-heavy transformation work are all in play.
Visa and work permit routes that usually apply#
The main route for a salaried operations job is the Employment Visa. In general terms, it requires a concrete job offer from a registered Indian employer, a role that needs a professional, and a salary at or above a threshold set by the government. The exact threshold has changed over the years and differs for some categories, so check the current figure on the official Bureau of Immigration or Indian Mission website before you apply anywhere. I will not quote a number here because a wrong number costs you time and money.
Other routes exist. Business Visa covers short visits for meetings, audits, or setting up an entity, not for taking a salaried post. Entry Visa often applies to spouses of Indian citizens or OCI holders. Some roles, especially in sectors with foreign investment, may fall under specific company transfer arrangements. Each has its own paperwork and validity rules.
Two blunt realities. First, most Indian employers will not start a visa process for a candidate who needs one, especially for junior or mid-level roles. Second, the process is employer-driven. You cannot self-sponsor an Employment Visa.
Language expectations, stated honestly#
English is the working language in most operations roles at multinational and large Indian companies. Job ads in India are written in English, interviews run in English, and reporting lines often cross borders. If your English is fluent and your written communication is clean, you clear the bar.
Local languages help on the floor. Warehouse, service, and field operations roles want someone who can talk to drivers, technicians, and local vendors. Hindi is useful across north and west India, Tamil in and around Chennai, Kannada in Bengaluru, Bengali in Kolkata. You will not be required to speak them for a desk-based planning or procurement role, but you will move faster on the ground if you pick up basics.
If you do not speak any Indian language, say so plainly in interviews and explain how you would handle it, for example by hiring a bilingual supervisor or using translation support. Do not overstate your ability. It gets found out in week one.
How Indian CVs differ from what you may be used to#
Indian recruiters expect a few things that surprise foreign candidates. A photo is common, though not required. Date of birth or age is often asked for in an application form. A "personal details" section with visa status, notice period, and current location is normal and useful for you to include.
Keep it to two pages. Put your work authorization status near the top, in one line: "Currently on X visa, eligible for Employment Visa transfer" or "Require sponsorship, available to relocate." That one line saves everyone time.
Quantify results the way Indian operations managers think: cost per unit, on-time delivery, headcount managed, inventory accuracy, and downtime reduction. Rewrite vague bullets into numbers.
Worked example. A generic bullet like this: "Responsible for warehouse operations and team management." Rewrite it: "Ran a 40-person spare parts warehouse, cut picking errors from 4% to 1.2% in 11 months, and held 98% on-time dispatch across 3 shifts." The second version names the scale, the problem, the fix, and the result. That is what gets a callback.
Applying from abroad and remote work#
Applying from outside India works, but expect friction. Time zones, interview scheduling, and the visa question all slow things down. Apply to roles where your experience is scarce locally, for example SAP S/4HANA transformation, EV service operations, or specialized procurement.
Remote roles in operations are close to none in this snapshot. All 235 listings read as on-site or hybrid positions in named Indian cities. If you want remote work, look outside operations, or look for global employers with distributed teams in other functions.
Cities to target, from the snapshot: Bengaluru (57), Mumbai (26), Gurugram (11), Kolkata (8), Ahmedabad (6). Bengaluru and Gurugram are where most multinational operations sit. Mumbai skews toward logistics, pharma, and financial services operations.
Your 7-step plan#
- Pick two role families you fit, for example warehouse and service operations, or procurement and SAP transformation. Focus beats spraying applications.
- Fix your CV in Indian format: two pages, visa status near the top, quantified results, no long personal essays.
- Shortlist live roles in the India operations jobs hub and note which are at large international employers.
- For each target employer, find a recruiter or hiring manager on LinkedIn and ask one direct question: "Does this role support an Employment Visa application?" Cut quickly if the answer is no.
- Prepare a short answer about language and local context, and one about why India. Interviewers will ask both.
- Write a tight cover letter for each serious application, and use the cover letter tool to keep it structured and fast.
- Track everything in a simple sheet: company, role, visa answer, last contact, next step. Review weekly and drop dead leads.

FAQ#
Do I need a job offer before applying for an India work visa?
Yes, for an Employment Visa. The employer sponsors the application and provides the documentation. You cannot apply for it on your own without an offer.
Will large international companies in India sponsor my visa?
Some might, but never assume it. Global size does not mean sponsorship for a given role. Ask the recruiter in the first message or call, before investing time.
Is Hindi required for operations jobs in India?
No, English is enough for desk-based planning, procurement, and SAP roles. Local language skills help a lot in warehouse, service, and field work where you manage drivers, technicians, or vendors.
How long should my CV be for Indian employers?
Two pages is standard. Put visa status and current location near the top, keep personal details short, and use numbers for results rather than long responsibility lists.
Are there remote operations jobs in India in this snapshot?
Not in the current data. All 235 open operations listings on 14 October 2026 read as on-site or hybrid roles in named cities. If remote work is a hard requirement, look at other functions or global remote-first employers.
