Marketing Jobs for Freshers in India: 2026 Guide
You are a fresher with no marketing experience, and almost every listing you open asks for one to three years of it. That is the real barrier, and this guide is about getting past it without lying on your resume.
What the numbers actually say#
On 14 October 2026, the JobRise jobs hub for marketing roles in India showed 138 open listings. Of those, 124 were posted in the last 30 days, and 74 went up in the last 7 days alone. The feed moves fast, so treat these as a dated snapshot of one live board, not a market survey.
Here is the part that stings: zero of those 138 listings carry an entry-level title. No "intern", no "graduate", no "junior", no "trainee". Employers in India rarely post fresher-friendly roles under fresher-friendly names. The job exists. The label does not.
Zoom out and the picture is similar. The JobRise Hiring Report for India counted 1,867 open listings across all categories, with 1,345 posted in the last 30 days. Marketing is a thin slice of that, so you are competing in a small, crowded pool.

Which companies are hiring right now#
In that 14 October 2026 snapshot, the companies with the most open marketing listings were Lokal App (14), Mongodb (6), Elastic (4), Weekday AI (4), CXG (4), Vilas (3), Maker Lab (3), Rentokil Initial (3), Maxwell Energy System Pvt Ltd (2), and Fivetran (2). Some of these names are recruiters or staffing firms rather than the final employer, which matters when you negotiate.
Cities cluster hard. Bengaluru led with 35 listings, then Mumbai (14), Pune (7), HSR Layout (7), and Hyderabad (6). Almost every role was full-time: 137 full-time against 1 contract.
The titles to actually search for#
Since "junior" is not in the vocabulary, search by function instead. Real titles from the same snapshot include "Marketing Associate" at Rampwin Technologies Pvt. Ltd., "Marketing Specialist" at Masai, "Digital Marketing" at Surya International Enterprise Ltd, "Performance Marketing Executive - Tamil (GyanTV)" at Lokal App, "Marketing Executive" at Vilas, "Staff Technical Writer" at Okta, and "Digital Marketing and Growth Marketing Manager" at QHT Clinic.
"Associate", "Executive", "Specialist", and bare function names like "Digital Marketing" are where fresher-eligible work hides. Read the description, not the title. A role called "Marketing AI Engineer" at Elastic will want engineering depth. A role called "Marketing Executive" often will not.
What the pay looks like#
Only 47 of the 138 listings showed pay at all, which tells you how much of this market negotiates in the dark. As posted: "Digital Marketing" at Tikshark showed ₹2.0-3.0 LPA; "Marketing Executive" at Tushar Trans Equipment Pvt. Ltd. showed ₹2.4-3.6 LPA; "Marketing Executive" at Vilas showed ₹3.0-5.4 LPA; "Digital Marketing and Growth Marketing Manager" at QHT Clinic showed ₹6.0-9.6 LPA; "Marketing Strategist" at Copods showed ₹8.0-12.0 LPA; "Marketing Manager" at Techwave Inc showed ₹5.0-15.0 LPA.
Freshers land at the lower end of these bands, often ₹2.5 to ₹4.5 LPA for a first marketing role in metro cities, and less outside them. Ranges vary by city, company size, and how badly they need you. Verify current figures on the official listing or with the employer before you accept.
The skills employers here expect#
Strip away the jargon and Indian marketing employers want three things: can you write, can you run a channel, and can you read numbers.
- Writing in English, plus a regional language if the role targets a specific state. Lokal App's Tamil performance marketing role is the clearest example.
- One paid or organic channel done properly: Meta Ads, Google Ads, SEO, email, or YouTube.
- Basic analytics: GA4, Search Console, Meta Ads Manager, or a spreadsheet with a real dashboard in it.
- Content tools: Canva, CapCut, Figma, or a CMS like WordPress or Webflow.
- AI literacy: using tools to draft, research, and repurpose, without publishing raw output.
- Copywriting for ads, landing pages, and cold outreach. This one gets interviews.
Proof beats claims#
Saying "I am passionate about marketing" gets your CV deleted. Showing a campaign you ran gets a callback. Three kinds of proof work when you have zero years.
Personal projects count. Pick a local business, a friend's venture, or a cause, and run a real two-week campaign with a small budget, even ₹2,000 of your own money. Document the goal, what you did, and the result.
Certifications help but only as a filter-pass. Google Digital Garage, Google Ads Search, Meta Blueprint, HubSpot Content Marketing, and GA4 certification are the ones recruiters in India recognise.
A portfolio site closes the loop. One page, your projects, screenshots, numbers, and a way to contact you. That is enough.
A zero-experience resume bullet, rewritten#
Most freshers write this:
"Responsible for social media marketing and content creation for college fest."
Here is the same work, rewritten for a recruiter who is skimming:
"Ran Instagram and email for a 3-day college fest with 2,000 footfall: grew followers from 400 to 1,800 in 6 weeks, drove 620 ticket pre-registrations through a ₹1,500 Meta Ads test, and wrote 24 posts plus 4 landing pages."
Same person. Same experience. One version is a task list. The other is evidence. If you need more bullets like this, a resume builder helps you structure them: use the resume builder to format achievements instead of duties.
Where entry-level openings get posted#
Company career pages first, especially for the firms with multiple listings right now. Then job boards, where you filter by "Associate", "Executive", and "0-1 years" rather than "fresher". Then LinkedIn, where the referral route beats the apply button almost every time.
Recruiters and staffing firms are worth a second look. Several of the biggest hirers in the snapshot, including Weekday AI, CXG, and Maker Lab, are intermediaries. Getting into their database can put you in front of roles that never get listed publicly.
The 7-step plan#
- Pick one channel to go deep on. Meta Ads or content plus SEO are the fastest for freshers in India right now.
- Run one real project in the next 14 days with a small budget and a measurable goal.
- Get one recognised certification, ideally Google Ads Search or GA4.
- Build a one-page portfolio with three projects, each showing goal, action, and number.
- Rewrite every resume bullet to lead with an outcome and a number, not a responsibility.
- Apply to 10 roles a week using the "Associate", "Executive", and "0-1 years" filters on the marketing jobs board.
- Message one marketer at each company you apply to, with a specific line about their work and a link to your portfolio.
Do this for six weeks straight. Most freshers quit after ten applications. That alone puts you ahead.

FAQ#
How many marketing jobs for freshers are open in India right now?
On 14 October 2026, JobRise showed 138 open marketing listings in India, but none carried an entry-level title. The roles exist under names like "Marketing Associate", "Marketing Executive", and "Digital Marketing". Check the live board for current counts.
What salary should a marketing fresher expect in India?
Posted ranges in the snapshot ran from ₹2.0-3.0 LPA at the low end to ₹8.0-12.0 LPA for strategist roles, and only 47 of 138 listings showed pay at all. Freshers typically land around ₹2.5-4.5 LPA in metros. Verify current figures with the employer.
Do I need an MBA to get a marketing job?
No. Most of the roles in the snapshot ask for a bachelor's degree plus demonstrated skills, not a management degree. An MBA helps for manager-track roles later, but a portfolio and a certification get you the first job faster.
Which city is best for marketing jobs in India?
Bengaluru led the 14 October 2026 snapshot with 35 listings, followed by Mumbai (14), Pune (7), HSR Layout (7), and Hyderabad (6). Remote roles exist but are a minority in this slice. Apply city-wise and mention relocation willingness in your cover note.
How long does it take for a fresher to break into marketing?
With a portfolio, one certification, and consistent applications, most people see interviews within four to eight weeks. Without proof of work, it can stretch for months. The gap is not luck, it is evidence.
