Operations Jobs for Freshers in India: 2026 Guide

JobRise Team7 min read

You are a fresher in India with no experience, and every operations posting you open asks for two to three years of work history. That is the wall you are staring at. It is beatable, but you need to know what the market actually looks like before you start applying.

What the listings look like right now#

On 14 October 2026, the operations jobs hub on JobRise listed 235 open operations roles in India. 96 of those went up in the last 30 days, and 60 in the last 7 days alone.

Read those numbers as a dated snapshot of live listings, not as a market survey. The feed moves. Roles close, new ones appear, and a count from one day says nothing about next month.

The blunt part: only 1 of the 235 listings carries an entry-level looking title. That one is "Junior Data Entry Operator" at Aerones. Intern, graduate, junior, trainee style titles are rare in this slice.

This does not mean freshers cannot get in. It means the door is not labelled. You will be applying for roles whose titles sound senior but whose actual work is junior, and you will need to read the description carefully.

Where the roles are and who is hiring#

Bengaluru leads with 57 open listings, then Mumbai at 26, Gurugram at 11, Kolkata at 8, and Ahmedabad at 6. Almost everything is full-time: 233 of 235, with just 2 contract roles.

Companies with the most open listings in this slice include Rentokil Initial with 134, Bosch Group with 17, Stripe with 15, Stranger Soccer with 7, Exponent Energy with 6, Mongodb with 6, Okta with 4, Airbnb with 4, Evidence Action with 3, and Datamark, Inc. with 3. Some of these names are recruiters or staffing firms rather than the final employer, so check who actually signs your offer.

For wider context, the JobRise hiring report for India shows 1,867 open listings across all categories, with 1,345 posted in the last 30 days. Operations is a slice of that, not the whole market.

Pay is almost never shown. Only 1 of the 235 listings displays a salary: "Purchase Manager" at Kutty Flush Door & Furniture at ₹2.0 to 5.0 LPA. Treat that as one posting, not a benchmark. Verify current ranges on official sources or in the offer letter before you commit to anything.

Titles that hide junior work#

Look at what is actually open. "Marine Personnel Assistant ( Temp Staff )" at Anglo-Eastern Ship Management. "Storekeeper - Spare Parts Warehouse" at Exponent Energy. "LOG - Physical Logistics ( Warehousing / Transportations/Logistic Quality /Logistic Cost)" at Bosch Group.

Assistant, storekeeper, coordinator, executive, and support titles are where freshers usually land. Then there are the ones you should skip for now: "SAP Project Manager (S/4 HANA Transformation)" and "Asst Manager / Deputy Manager - Traded Goods Buyer" at Bosch Group, "Manager - Spare Parts Warehouse" at Exponent Energy, and "Service Head (EV 3-Wheeler)" at Exponent Energy. Those want years of ownership you do not have.

A good filter: if the description lists a team to manage, a budget, or a system migration to lead, pass. If it lists data entry, dispatch coordination, vendor follow-up, stock records, or ticket handling, apply.

Skills employers here expect#

Operations work in India runs on a few practical things. Learn these before you apply, not after.

  • Excel or Google Sheets: pivot tables, VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP, filters, and clean data formatting
  • A tracking tool: Trello, Notion, Jira, or even a well-kept shared sheet
  • Basic ERP awareness: what a purchase order, goods receipt, and invoice are, and how they link
  • Written English for email and escalation, plus Hindi or a regional language for ground coordination
  • Documentation habits: SOPs, checklists, daily reports
  • Any domain basics: warehouse flow, logistics terms, or ticketing, depending on the roles you target

Certifications help a little. A free Google Sheets course or a basic supply chain certificate from a recognised platform gets you past a screen. They do not replace proof of work.

Proof beats claims#

Employers hiring freshers want to see that you have done something, even unpaid. Three options that work: a personal project, a college event you ran, or a short freelance or NGO stint.

A personal project can be small. Track your local kirana store's stock in Sheets for two weeks, build a reorder alert, and write a one-page note on what you found. That is real inventory work.

A rewritten resume bullet#

Most fresher bullets say this:

"Responsible for data management and coordination."

Rewrite it with scope and result:

"Maintained stock records for 400+ SKUs in Google Sheets for a local retailer over 6 weeks, cut duplicate entries by building a dropdown-based entry sheet, and produced a weekly reorder list the owner now uses."

Same work, far more signal. If you want more like this, the JobRise resume builder walks you through rewriting weak bullets into specific ones.

Where entry-level openings get posted#

Company career pages first, especially the ones with the most listings in this snapshot. Then job boards and the operations jobs feed on JobRise. Then staffing firms, since several high-volume names in the data are recruiters placing people into other companies.

Do not ignore walk-ins and WhatsApp groups for warehouse and logistics roles in Bhiwandi, Hosur, Peenya, and similar industrial clusters. Those hires rarely make it to a board.

The 7-step plan#

  1. Pick a lane. Warehouse, logistics, admin, or operations support. Do not apply to all four at once.
  2. Build one proof project in two weeks. Sheets plus a short write-up is enough.
  3. Learn the vocabulary of your lane. Purchase order, ASN, MIS, SLA, dispatch, cycle count.
  4. Rewrite your resume around scope and numbers, then run it through the resume builder before you send it anywhere.
  5. List 20 target companies from the current feed and apply on their career pages directly.
  6. Apply to 5 roles a day, and keep a sheet with company, role, date, source, and follow-up date.
  7. Follow up once after 7 days. Then move on. Do not sit waiting on one application.
