Operations Jobs in the UK: Who's Hiring Right Now (Oct 2026)
589 operations listings are open in the United Kingdom right now, and 417 of them landed in the last seven days. That is a fast-moving market, but a narrow one: almost all of it is full-time, hands-on work in logistics, facilities, waste, and manufacturing. If you are job hunting this week, you need to know who is posting and what their listings actually say before you send anything.
These numbers come from the UK operations jobs hub on JobRise, dated 14 October 2026. They count open listings on our feed, not a market survey. Treat them as a snapshot of what is visible today.
Who is hiring right now#
Ten employers hold the largest share of these listings. Biffa Waste Services leads with 82, followed by Rentokil Initial Group with 42, Lanes Group with 30, Together Housing with 22, and Ten Group with 15. Then come Marshalls PLC with 14, Albert Bartlett with 13, Sword Group with 12, and Kurt Geiger and ATA LTD with 11 each.
Some of these names are recruiters or staffing firms rather than end employers, so read each listing carefully to see who you would actually work for.
The roles tell you what the work is. Biffa is filling driving and yard jobs: "LGV 2 Driver AM", "LGV 2 Driver Tues to Sat RORO", "LGV 2 Driver Fri to Tue", and "Loader Operative". Rentokil Initial Group has a "Graduate Horticultural Technician" open. Together Housing and Lanes Group point to facilities and maintenance work, and Marshalls PLC and Albert Bartlett sit in manufacturing and food production.
Outside the top ten, the titles get more mixed. FluoRok Limited wants an "Executive Assistant", ABM UK needs a "Facilities Operations Support Coordinator", Fora Space Limited is hiring a "Maintenance Technician", and Paxton Access wants a "Technical Customer Service Advisor - French Speaking". Office coordination and customer operations sit alongside the driving and technician roles.

Where the jobs are#
London has 101 listings, more than the next four cities combined. Manchester has 17, Aberdeen 14, Airdrie 12, and Bristol 11. Aberdeen and Airdrie suggest demand tied to industrial and energy supply chains, while the London block skews toward facilities, executive support, and customer operations.
A lot of the 589 is not city-based at all. Waste, housing, and maintenance roles are tied to depots, contracts, and estates, so location is often a patch rather than an office. Filter by travel time and by shift pattern, not just by city name.
What the job-type mix says#
Full-time accounts for 552 of the 589 listings. Part-time is 26 and contract is 11. If you need flexibility, the honest answer is that this slice of the market has very little of it.
The employer mix is skewed too. Waste, facilities, and industrial employers dominate the counts, with big tech barely visible in the top ten. Startups and agencies appear in single listings rather than bulk hiring. Public sector and housing work shows up through Together Housing, but it is not the volume driver.
Pay transparency is close to zero. Only 1 of 589 listings shows a salary. The one that does is "Customer Experience Associate - London" at Ramp, posted as £39K, £43K, offers equity, and the listing notes the role is paid hourly with a minimum hourly expectation. Assume most other listings will ask you for expectations instead of telling you a number.
Entry-level openings are rare. Just 7 of 589 titles look like intern, graduate, junior, or trainee roles. Examples include "Junior Customer Experience Executive" at Klira, "Graduate Horticultural Technician" at Rentokil Initial Group, "Graduate / Junior Mechanical Engineer" at Accora, "Junior Personal Assistant" at Debenhams Group, "Graduate, Planning & Procurement" at Bosch Group, and "Junior Manufacturing Operator (Weekends)" at elasticStage. If you are early career, you are competing for a very small slice.
For the wider picture, the Hiring Report for the United Kingdom shows 2,742 open listings across all categories and 2,245 posted in the last 30 days. Operations is a sizeable chunk of that, but it is not the whole market.
How to apply this week#
Apply direct where you can. If the listing names the employer, go to that employer's careers page and apply there as well as through the listing. Recruitment firms and staffing agencies will move faster on their own portals, so get registered with the ones posting at volume.
Mirror the listing's keywords in your CV. If the ad says "LGV 2" and "RORO", those words belong in your CV exactly as written, assuming the experience is real. The same goes for "facilities", "maintenance", "loader", "operative", and any software or ticketing system named in the advert.
Worked example. A CV bullet that says "Responsible for driving duties and warehouse tasks" will not pass a keyword screen. Rewrite it like this: "LGV 2 Driver (Class 2) delivering to 20+ sites per week on a Tues to Sat RORO route, loading and unloading, daily vehicle checks, and on-time completion of manifests." Same job, listing language, and the scope is clear.
Before you send anything, run the CV through the free ATS checker so formatting problems do not quietly block you. Most high-volume employers use an applicant tracking system first and a human second.
Your 7-step plan#
- Open the UK operations jobs feed and sort by date, since 417 listings went live in the last 7 days and older ones move slower.
- Shortlist 10 roles across at least 3 employers, so one slow process does not hold you up.
- Copy the exact job title, licence categories, and shift patterns from each listing into a note you can reuse.
- Rewrite your CV for each role, mirroring the listing's keywords for licences, equipment, and software.
- Apply direct on the employer's own site as well as through the listing, and note the date you applied.
- Register with the staffing firms posting at volume, and set up alerts for the titles you want.
- Track every application in a simple spreadsheet: employer, title, date applied, source, and next follow-up date.
FAQ#
How current are these operations job numbers?
They are a dated snapshot from 14 October 2026, taken from the JobRise live jobs feed. Listings change daily, so check the feed again before you plan your week.
Do I need an LGV licence for most of these roles?
No, but a large share of the driving roles do ask for LGV 2 or Class 2 entitlement. If you have it, put the licence category in the first two lines of your CV.
Are these all direct employer vacancies?
Some are, some are posted by recruiters or staffing firms. The listing usually says who is hiring, and where it is unclear, ask before you invest time in a long application.
Why do so few listings show salary?
Employers in this slice rarely publish pay, and only 1 of 589 listings in the snapshot showed a figure. Ranges vary by role and region, so check the current official source or ask the recruiter directly.
Is operations a good route if I am just starting out?
It can be, but entry-level openings are thin: 7 of 589 titles in the snapshot looked like graduate, junior, intern, or trainee roles. Apply for those first and be ready to take shift work to get a foothold.
