Remote Software Jobs Open to India Applicants (Oct 2026)

JobRise Team8 min read

You are applying for remote software roles from India and every second listing looks like it might not actually take you. Here is what the market shows right now, and what to do about it.

The snapshot, dated 14 October 2026#

On 14 October 2026, JobRise's live jobs feed showed 67 open remote Software listings that explicitly accept applicants in India. That is the slice behind every number here, and it is a count of open listings, not a market survey. If you want to browse them yourself, start with the remote software jobs feed filtered for India.

Of those 67, 37 were posted in the last 30 days, and 28 in the last 7 days. Fresh listings exist. The funnel is just narrow.

Wider context: 3,129 remote Software jobs were open on JobRise across all countries, and 1,867 listings across all categories were open in India. The country-level picture is covered in the JobRise Hiring Report: India, which is where to look if you want the full India feed beyond remote software.

Who is actually hiring#

Companies with the most open listings in this slice, exactly as named on the listings: Twilio (11), Jumpcloud (11), Coinbase (5), Acclaro (5), Ten Group (3), Huzzle (3), Creative Chaos (3), Qode (2), Airbnb (2), JoVE (2).

Read that list carefully. Some of these names are recruiters or staffing firms, not the end employer. Huzzle, Qode, Acclaro, and Creative Chaos place people. That is not a bad thing. It does mean the contract you sign may be with the agency while your day-to-day work is for their client, and you should know which one pays you, and on what terms, before you say yes.

What "remote" means in these listings#

Remote does not mean "work from anywhere, any hours." Four things decide whether a role is genuinely open to you.

Country restriction. A role can be remote and still limited to specific countries for legal, payroll, or client reasons. The 67 listings here state that applicants in India are accepted. Assume nothing beyond what the listing says.

Time zones. Many remote teams want overlap with US or European hours. Twilio and Coinbase roles, for example, will usually expect some evening availability in IST. Ask about core hours in the first call, not after you accept.

Contractor versus employee. Job types in this snapshot: 65 full-time, 2 contract. But "full-time" in a listing can still mean a contractor arrangement with no benefits, notice period, or paid leave. Ask directly: "Am I an employee or a contractor, and who is the legal employer?"

Employer-of-record. If a foreign company wants to hire you as an employee in India without setting up an Indian entity, they may use an employer-of-record (EOR) firm. The EOR is your legal employer, runs payroll, and deducts tax. It is a normal arrangement. It also adds a layer between you and the company you actually work for, so read the EOR contract as carefully as you would any offer.

Tax and contract basics#

I am not a tax advisor, and rules change, so verify anything below with a CA or the official income tax portal before you act.

If you are on an Indian payroll, either through the company or an EOR, TDS is deducted at source and you file as a salaried employee. If you invoice as a contractor, especially to a foreign entity, you are earning professional or business income, you may need to register for GST depending on your turnover and export rules, and you handle your own tax payments in advance. Laptops, internet, and home office costs may be deductible for contractors in ways they are not for salaried employees. Keep invoices, contracts, and bank statements in order from day one.

Two contract clauses worth reading twice: notice period on both sides, and intellectual property assignment. Some contracts claim IP over anything you build, including side projects, during the term. Negotiate that out if you can.

Scam red flags#

No salary is shown on any of the 67 listings in this slice. That is common, and it is also the exact gap scams exploit. Watch for these signals.

  • Any request for money: "refundable deposit," "laptop fee," "training charge," "background check payment." Legitimate employers do not charge you to start.
  • Interviews only over chat apps, with no video call and no verifiable company email domain.
  • A job offer sent before any technical conversation, especially with pay quoted in USD to make it feel bigger.
  • Pressure to sign within hours, or to share bank details, Aadhaar, or PAN before a signed offer exists.
  • Email domains that mimic a real company with extra letters or hyphens. Verify on the company's own careers page, not through the link the message sent you.

How to stand out in remote applications#

Hiring remotely from India means you compete with applicants from many time zones. Two things get you shortlisted: timezone fit and evidence you work unsupervised.

Say your overlap hours in your first message. Something like: "I am based in IST and can hold 4 hours of overlap with US Eastern, typically 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm IST." That single line removes the biggest unknown for a remote hiring manager.

Show async habits in your resume bullets. Here is a rewrite of a weak bullet into one that signals remote readiness.

Before: "Worked on the Salesforce O2C module with the team."

After: "Delivered 14 O2C workflow fixes for the Salesforce rollout across 3 sumps, coordinating with a US-based QA team through written specs and recorded walkthroughs, with zero critical defects at go-live."

Notice what changed: a number, a named method, and proof you can work without live supervision. That is the whole trick.

The 7-step plan#

  1. Filter the remote software jobs feed to India-accepted listings and sort by newest. In this snapshot, 28 of 67 were posted in the last week, so freshness matters.
  2. Read the full listing for country, timezone, and employment type before you apply. Skip anything that hides the employer name entirely.
  3. Rewrite your resume bullets with numbers and remote evidence, the way shown above.
  4. Run your resume through a free ATS resume checker before submitting. Remote roles at companies like Twilio and Coinbase get high applicant volume and keyword screening decides who a human sees.
  5. Write a 4-line cover note that states your timezone overlap, your internet backup plan, and one relevant achievement. Do not restate your resume.
  6. Track every application in a simple sheet: company, date, role, contract type, and next follow-up date. Follow up once after 7 days.
  7. Before accepting any offer, confirm the legal employer, the notice period, the currency of payment, and who provides equipment. Get it in writing.

Titles in this snapshot skew senior. Entry-level titles like intern, graduate, junior, and trainee: 0 out of 67. If you are early in your career, widen your search to Jobs in India generally, or look at support and operations-adjacent roles such as "Technical Support Engineer 2" at Twilio or "L1 IT Specialist" at JoVE, which are open in this feed and are a real path into product companies.

FAQ#

Are these 67 roles open to freshers?

No, based on this snapshot. Entry-level titles accounted for 0 of the 67 open listings on 14 October 2026. If you are a fresher, target support, QA, or operations-adjacent roles and build a portfolio in parallel.

Do any of these listings show salary?

None of the 67 listings in this slice show a salary. Ask for the range early in the process, and treat any offer that refuses to give a range before a final round with suspicion.

Is it better to go through a recruiter like Huzzle or Qode?

It can be. Recruiters give you access to roles you would not find alone, but you may be contracted to the agency rather than the end client. Ask who signs your contract, who pays you, and what happens if the client ends the engagement.

Do I need to pay tax in the US for a remote US job?

Generally no, if you are working from India for a company paying you here, though treaty and W-8BEN paperwork may apply for contractors. Confirm with a CA based on your specific arrangement.

How do I verify a remote job is real?

Check the company's own careers page for the same role, confirm the recruiter's email domain matches the company, and never pay money to start. If the offer skips a technical interview entirely, walk away.

Send this to whoever has the interview this week.
