Petit test
Guess first, no penalty. Your AI note-taker says the buyer "agreed to a demo Friday" and the main concern was price. Your own notes say they asked three times about data security and said "maybe next week". Which goes into the CRM (the system where your deals are stored)?
An AI note-taker (a tool that records a call and writes a summary) saves you from typing during the conversation. But it summarizes words, not intent. It can turn "maybe next week" into "agreed to a demo", and it can rank a passing comment about price above the question the buyer asked three times.
Whatever lands in the CRM shapes your follow-up, your manager's view of the deal and the forecast. A wrong summary sends all three in the wrong direction.
A worked example
This is a made-up discovery call (the first real conversation where you learn the buyer's problem).
Avant et après
Switch between the AI summary and the CRM note the rep actually saved.
AI summary
Great call. Buyer agreed to a demo on Friday. Main concern: price. Budget confirmed. Next step: send pricing.
Look at what changed. The demo was never agreed. The real concern was security, not price. Budget never came up. Following the AI version, the rep would have sent a price list to someone waiting for an answer on security.
