Internships in the UK: Who's Hiring Right Now (Oct 2026)

JobRise Team6 min read

You want an internship in the UK and you've got maybe two evenings a week to spend on applications. Before you burn them on the wrong targets, look at who is actually hiring.

On 14 October 2026, internship listings across the United Kingdom showed 77 open roles. Fifty-nine went up in the last 30 days and 41 in the last 7 days. That is a fast-moving feed. Over half the market appeared in the past week.

Who is hiring#

A short list of employers holds most of the openings. Bosch Group leads with 19 listings, Barnett Waddingham has 11, Rentokil Initial Group has 10, Palantir has 5, and Man Group and Kepak Group show 4 each. NowSkills and Old Mill sit at 3 each, and Eurostar International and PIMCO show 2 each.

One catch. Some of these names are recruiters or staffing firms, not the employer who'll pay you. Read the listing body before you apply.

Bosch Group is running a broad intake: "HR Intern", "HR L&D Training Administrator Intern", "IT Support Specialist Intern", "Corporate Communications Intern", and "HR Intern - Operations, Employee Experience & Administration". Five different tracks at one company means you can apply to more than one if your skills fit, and most of these sit in Denham and Coventry.

Rentokil Initial Group is filling practical, hands-on roles like "Trainee Pest Control Technician". Eurostar International has "Intern Software Developer - 12-month fixed-term contract", a real software role with a defined end date. Allwyn UK wants a "Retail Growth Apprentice - 18 Month FTC". NowSkills is placing apprentices into "Data Analyst Apprentice" and "Marketing Apprentice".

Where the jobs are#

London takes 22 listings, then Denham with 10, Coventry with 6, Merthyr Tydfil with 3, and Bristol with 3. If you can reach Denham or Coventry you'll face far fewer rivals than the London crowd, because the same role in a smaller pool gets read properly instead of buried in a pile.

Denham is worth a look on its own. Ten listings in one small town usually means one employer hiring at volume.

What the job-type mix tells you#

Of the 77 listings, 70 are labelled Full-time, 5 Internship, and 2 Contract. Don't let the labels scare you off. Plenty of those "full-time" roles are paid placements, apprenticeships, or fixed-term entry jobs built for people with thin experience.

74 of the 77 carry entry-level titles: intern, graduate, junior, trainee, and similar. This slice exists for newcomers.

The mix shows four hiring channels, and each one wants a different application. Big tech and finance are here: Palantir, Man Group, PIMCO. Volume corporates are hiring: Bosch Group, Rentokil Initial Group, Eurostar International, Kepak Group. Training providers and agencies place people: NowSkills, Old Mill, Barnett Waddingham. Regulated and quasi-public employers appear too, with Allwyn UK in that group.

How to apply this week#

Apply direct wherever you can. The same role often sits on the employer's own careers page, and a direct application reaches the hiring team faster than one routed through a job board.

Mirror the advert's own words. If it says "employee experience", write "employee experience", not "staff engagement", because applicant tracking systems match phrases and small wording gaps cost you the screen. If the role says "12-month fixed-term contract", state that you're available for 12 months.

Only 3 of 77 listings show pay at all. The posted figures are "Data Analyst Apprentice" at NowSkills: £16K-16K, and "Marketing Apprentice" at NowSkills: £16K-16K. Treat those as what the adverts happen to show, not as a market rate, and check the current official source for minimum wage and apprenticeship pay before you sign anything.

Your 7-step plan#

  • Pick 5 employers from the list above and open their live listings today.
  • Rewrite your CV so its words match each advert: same skills, same tools, same phrasing.
  • Run it through the free ATS resume checker before you send, then fix what it flags.
  • Apply direct on the employer site first, and log the date you applied in a spreadsheet.
  • Aim for volume with a pattern: 3 applications a day beats one perfect application a week.
  • Check the wider market in the JobRise Hiring Report for the United Kingdom: 2,742 open listings across all categories, 2,245 posted in the last 30 days.
  • Follow up after 7 working days with a short, specific note naming the role title.

A worked example#

Say you're going for "HR Intern - Operations, Employee Experience & Administration" at Bosch Group. Here's a weak CV bullet and a strong one.

Before: "Helped the HR team with general admin tasks and supported employees."

After: "Supported HR Operations with employee experience administration for a 200-person site, maintaining onboarding records and responding to employee queries within a 24-hour target."

The second version uses the advert's own language, adds scope, and shows a standard you worked to. That's what earns the interview.
