Marketing Salary and Job Market in France 2026

JobRise Team8 min read

You want a marketing job in France and you cannot tell what the pay should be. The listings skip the number. Recruiters ask for your expectation first. You walk in blind.

That puts you at a disadvantage before the interview even starts. Here is the fix.

What the job market looks like right now#

On 14 October 2026, JobRise's live feed shows 26 open marketing job listings in France. That is a snapshot of our own listings, not a market survey, so treat it as one signal among several and not the whole picture.

Fifteen of those 26 landed in the last 30 days. Ten in the last 7 days. The market moves. But it is thin.

Two dozen listings across a whole country is not a boom. Realistic expectations matter here.

Cities concentrate hard. Paris holds 14 listings. Toulouse, Massy, Nice, and Lille have 1 each. If you are outside Paris and not open to relocating or remote work, your realistic options shrink fast, and you will need to widen the job title you search on.

Job types break down as 22 full-time, 3 part-time, 1 contract. Full-time is the default. Part-time shows up mostly in retail and store-based roles, like the APM Monaco sales adviser role in Nice at 24 hours a week.

Who is hiring#

The companies with the most open marketing listings in this slice are Ubisoft (4), Mongodb (3), Sézane (2), Treatwell (2), Red Bull (2), and Costco France (2). Then single listings sit at Médecins du Monde, Riot Security, Quandela, and APM Monaco.

Gaming and tech dominate the top of that list. Retail and consumer brands hold the middle. NGOs and deep-tech startups appear, but rarely.

Some names on that list are recruiters or staffing firms rather than the end employer, so read the listing carefully because the company you interview with may not be the company that pays you. That matters when you negotiate.

Roles range widely in seniority. "Field Marketing Manager" and "Regional Director, Enterprise, Growth" at Mongodb sit at the senior end. "Scientific Engagement Specialist" at Quandela and "Growth Manager Inbound" at Riot Security sit in the middle.

"Responsable Marketing - Octobre Éditions (H/F)" at Sézane is a head-of-function role inside a brand. Big scope.

The salary problem in the listings#

Here is the blunt part. Not one of the 26 open listings in this slice shows a salary. Zero.

That is normal in France. Employers rarely post pay, it protects their internal pay structure and gives them room to anchor the offer low, so you have to bring your own number to the conversation.

Come prepared. Every time.

Entry-level openings are even scarcer. Only 1 of 26 titles looks like an internship, graduate, junior, or trainee role: "Stage Marketing & Communication - 2027" at Exotec. If you are early career, the market right now is not built for you, so cast wider and consider adjacent roles in communication, content, or sales support.

Typical marketing pay by seniority#

Use these as orientation only. Reported ranges vary a lot by city, company size, industry, and language requirements. Verify against current sources before you quote them.

Junior marketing roles, such as assistant or junior officer: typically EUR 28,000 to EUR 38,000 per year gross.

Marketing manager or specialist roles, with 3 to 6 years of experience: typically EUR 42,000 to EUR 58,000 per year gross.

Senior or head-of-marketing roles, including "Responsable Marketing" titles with team or budget ownership: typically EUR 58,000 to EUR 78,000 per year gross.

Director and regional roles, like the Mongodb "Regional Director, Enterprise, Growth" title: typically EUR 85,000 to EUR 115,000 per year gross, often with variable pay on top.

These are gross annual figures for a full-time role. Paris skews higher. Toulouse, Nice, and Lille skew lower, sometimes meaningfully, and international companies with English-first teams usually pay above local average.

How pay packages work in France#

A French offer is more than the base number. Know what sits around it.

Base salary is stated as a gross annual figure, "brut annuel". Your net take-home is lower after employee social contributions and income tax withheld at source, so ask for the net monthly figure too and plan your budget on that.

A 13th month is common in larger companies and many collective agreements. Sometimes it is contractual and guaranteed. Sometimes it is discretionary. Ask which.

Variable pay, usually called "part variable" or "bonus", runs from 5 to 20 percent of base for marketing roles. Sales-adjacent roles like the Mongodb regional director title can go higher, so get the target and the actual payout history in writing before you sign anything.

Benefits add real value. Meal vouchers (titres-restaurant), a transport allowance, private health insurance (mutuelle), and remote work days are standard in the kind of roles on this list. Count them when you compare two offers.

Equity or stock options appear in tech and startup roles, for example at a company like Quandela. Treat equity as upside, not salary, and ask what the vesting schedule is, what the current valuation is based on, and what happens if you leave.

Retirement top-ups, sometimes called PER entreprise, are worth asking about at larger employers. The French state pension is separate and depends on your contribution record, so do not count it in your monthly math.

Never quote legal thresholds from memory. Rules on minimum wage, visa or permit salary floors, and tax rates change. Check the current official source, such as Service-Public.fr or the relevant prefecture, before you rely on any figure.

How to negotiate an offer#

Do the research first. The JobRise Hiring Report: France gives country-level context: 465 open listings across all categories right now, with 345 posted in the last 30 days. That tells you how active the market is and how long roles tend to sit.

Then write your number down before the call. Say a range, not a single figure, and put your target at the top of it. Silence after you say it is fine. Do not fill it.

Worked example: a recruiter asks "What are your expectations?" for a marketing manager role. You say: "Based on the scope of this role and my six years in B2B marketing, I'm targeting EUR 52,000 to EUR 58,000 gross per year. I'm flexible on the mix if there's a meaningful variable component." Then stop talking.

If the offer comes in low, do not accept on the spot. Ask for time, then come back with one sentence: "I'm excited about the role. To accept, I'd need EUR 55,000 gross per year, given the budget ownership in the job description." Specific beats vague every time.

If the base will not move, negotiate the rest: a signing bonus, a review at six months in writing, more remote days, a bigger variable target, or an extra week of holiday. Every one of those has real value.

What to do this week#

  • Pick a target gross annual number and a floor you will not go below
  • Check three live listings in your city and note how they phrase the scope
  • Write out your two best quantified achievements, with numbers attached
  • Prepare your answer to "What are your salary expectations?" and say it out loud
  • Ask every recruiter for the gross annual range before the first interview
  • Confirm whether the 13th month and variable pay are contractual or discretionary
  • Verify any legal pay or visa figure against the current official source

FAQ#

What is a good marketing salary in France?

For a marketing manager with a few years of experience, EUR 42,000 to EUR 58,000 gross per year is a common reported range. Junior roles start lower, senior and director roles go well above. Always check current sources, since industry and city move the number a lot.

Do marketing jobs in France usually list salary?

Rarely. In our 14 October 2026 snapshot, none of the 26 open marketing listings showed pay. Expect to state your expectation first, so have a researched range ready before the call.

How does the 13th month work?

It is an extra month of salary paid on top of the usual twelve. Some contracts guarantee it, others make it discretionary. Ask which one applies, and get it in the written offer.

Should I include variable pay in my salary expectation?

No. Quote your base gross annual figure as your headline number, then discuss the variable separately. If a recruiter mixes them together, ask them to break out the fixed and variable parts.

Is Paris the only city with marketing roles?

No, but it is where the concentration is. In our snapshot Paris had 14 of 26 listings, with Toulouse, Massy, Nice, and Lille at 1 each. Remote-friendly roles widen the map, so filter for them if you are outside the capital.
