Let's Talk Real Numbers, Not "Competitive Compensation"#

Every job listing says "competitive compensation." None of them say what the actual number is.

I find this genuinely frustrating. When I graduated, I spent weeks trying to figure out what different companies actually paid freshers. The information was scattered across anonymous Glassdoor reviews (half of which seemed outdated), Blind app posts (mostly from US employees), and those clickbait "Top 10 Companies" lists that just said "good salary" without mentioning a single number.

So here's what we did: we collected salary data from Glassdoor India, Levels.fyi, the Blind app, LinkedIn posts, and direct conversations with employees at each company. Where possible, we verified numbers with multiple sources.

Important caveats:

  • All figures are Total Compensation (TC) unless stated otherwise. TC = Base Salary + Bonus + Stock/ESOPs (annualized)
  • These are for entry-level / fresher roles (0-2 years experience)
  • Salaries vary by role (SDE vs analyst vs consultant), location, and negotiation
  • Stock values can fluctuate significantly
  • Numbers are approximate and represent ranges, not guarantees

With that said, here are the 25 highest-paying companies in India for freshers in 2026, organized by category.

Category 1: Global Tech Giants (FAANG and Peers)#

These companies pay the highest fresher salaries in India. Getting in is extremely competitive, but the compensation is in a different league.

1. Google (Alphabet)

Entry Level: L3 Software Engineer Total Compensation: Rs 25-35 LPA

  • Base: Rs 18-22 LPA
  • Bonus: Rs 2-3 LPA (15% target)
  • Stock: Rs 5-10 LPA (vests over 4 years)

How they hire: Campus placement at IITs/NITs/top colleges, off-campus through Google Careers, referrals. Coding test, 4-5 onsite interviews (DSA + Googleyness), hiring committee review. Read our detailed Google interview guide.

2. Meta (Facebook/Instagram)

Entry Level: E3 Software Engineer Total Compensation: Rs 25-35 LPA

  • Stock: Rs 15-25 LPA (vests over 4 years, backloaded)

Note: Amazon's Year 1 TC is lower due to backloaded stock vesting (5% Year 1, 15% Year 2). The signing bonus compensates for this. Read our Amazon interview preparation guide.

How to Actually Get Hired at These Companies#

Knowing the salary is one thing. Getting the offer is another. Here are the patterns we observed across all 25 companies:

1. Referrals Are the #1 Hiring Channel

At nearly every company on this list, referred candidates have a significantly higher conversion rate than cold applicants. This isn't optional advice. This is the single most impactful thing you can do.

How to get referrals when you don't know anyone:

  • LinkedIn cold messages (keep them short, specific, and respectful)
  • College alumni networks (alumni are generally willing to refer fellow graduates)
  • Tech meetups and conferences (in-person connections convert better than cold DMs)
  • Open source contributions (contributing to a company's open source projects gets you noticed)

2. DSA Preparation Is Non-Negotiable

Every single company on this list tests data structures and algorithms in some form. There are no shortcuts.

Minimum preparation:

  • 150-200 LeetCode problems (focused on patterns, not just volume)
  • Blind 75 + NeetCode 150
  • Company-tagged problems on LeetCode (if you have Premium)
  • At least 10 mock interviews with a partner

3. System Design Matters Even for Freshers

More companies are asking basic system design questions to freshers now. You don't need to know distributed systems theory, but you should understand:

  • How a URL shortener works
  • Basic load balancing concepts
  • Database choices (SQL vs NoSQL)
  • Caching fundamentals (Redis, CDN)
  • API design basics

4. Your Resume Has to Pass ATS First

Before any human sees your resume, it goes through an Applicant Tracking System. 75% of resumes are rejected at this stage. Make sure your resume:

  • Uses standard section headings (Education, Experience, Skills, Projects)
  • Includes relevant keywords from the job description
  • Is in a clean, single-column format
  • Has no images, tables, or fancy formatting that ATS can't parse

Run your resume through the JobRise ATS Checker to see your score and get specific fixes before applying.

5. Timing Matters

Campus hiring: Most top companies hire from campuses between August and December. Be ready by July.

Off-campus / lateral: Peak hiring months are January to March (new year budgets) and July to September (mid-year planning). But these companies hire year-round.

Internship conversions: The best path into many of these companies (Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart) is through internships. If you're in your pre-final year, prioritize getting an internship at a target company.

Beyond the Top 25: Companies Worth Watching#

These companies aren't in the top 25 by fresher TC, but they're worth considering for career growth, learning, or ESOP potential:

  • Salesforce India: Rs 14-18 LPA fresher TC, excellent work-life balance
  • Adobe India: Rs 15-20 LPA, strong engineering culture
  • Cisco: Rs 12-16 LPA, great for networking domain expertise
  • Samsung R&D India: Rs 12-16 LPA, hardware + software experience
  • Directi / Media.net: Rs 15-22 LPA, strong engineering culture, smaller teams
  • Nutanix: Rs 15-20 LPA, enterprise infrastructure, great learning
  • ServiceNow: Rs 14-18 LPA, fast-growing enterprise SaaS

What About Service Companies?#

Let's address the elephant in the room. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, and Cognizant are the largest employers of engineering freshers in India. Their fresher salaries:

CompanyFresher Salary
TCS (Ninja)3.36-3.6 LPA
TCS (Digital)7-7.5 LPA
Infosys (Power Programmer)6.5-9 LPA
Infosys (Systems Engineer)3.6-4.2 LPA
Wipro (Turbo)6.5 LPA
Wipro (Elite)3.5 LPA
HCL3.5-4.5 LPA
Cognizant (GenC Pro)6.75 LPA
Cognizant (GenC)4 LPA

These are dramatically lower than the top 25 list above. But here's an honest perspective: service companies are a valid starting point. Not everyone graduates from a college where Google and Flipkart visit for campus placements. Service companies hire from virtually every engineering college in India and provide a first job, industry exposure, and a foundation to build from.

Many engineers at the top 25 companies started their careers at TCS, Infosys, or Wipro and switched after 1-3 years of preparation. It's harder, but it's a proven path. Check our guide on which companies are actively hiring freshers in 2026 for a complete picture.

The Real Talk: Salary Isn't Everything#

I want to end with something that might be unpopular on a list about highest-paying companies, but it's important.

Chasing the highest TC as a fresher is rational up to a point. But beyond that point, other factors matter more for your long-term career:

Learning velocity. Will you learn more as an SDE1 at Google doing well-defined tasks, or as the 5th engineer at a Series A startup building everything from scratch? The answer depends on your personality and goals.

Mentorship. A great manager who invests in your growth is worth more than 5 LPA extra in TC. Ask about mentorship culture during interviews.

Career trajectory. Some companies promote fast. Others have rigid band systems. Understand the promotion culture before optimizing for Year 1 salary.

Work-life balance. Burnout at 23 is real. If a company pays 5 LPA more but expects 70-hour weeks, calculate the hourly rate. It might not be as impressive as it looks.

Domain interest. Working on payments at Razorpay when you're passionate about fintech will make you happier (and probably better at your job) than working on ads at a company that pays more but doesn't excite you.

The goal should be: join a company where you'll learn rapidly, work on interesting problems, be mentored well, and be compensated fairly. If that company happens to be #1 on this list, great. If it's #25 or not on this list at all, that's fine too.

What to Do Next#

  1. Identify your target companies (pick 5-10 from this list that match your interests and skills)
  2. Check the requirements (each company has specific technical skills they test for)
  3. Start LeetCode preparation (150+ problems minimum, focused on patterns)
  4. Optimize your resume with the JobRise ATS Checker to pass automated screening
  5. Build referral connections on LinkedIn (start 2-3 months before you plan to apply)
  6. Practice mock interviews using the JobRise Mock Interview Bot
  7. Review your skill gaps and focus preparation on skills that freshers need in 2026

The companies on this list are hiring right now. The question is whether you'll be ready when the opportunity comes.
