Stop Fighting for ₹8 LPA in a Bangalore Office. Remote Pays 3-5x More.#

Here is a number that should change how you think about your career: Indian developers working remotely for international companies earn a median salary of $45,000-$80,000 per year. At current exchange rates, that is ₹37-66 LPA.

Meanwhile, the median on-site salary for a mid-level developer in Bangalore is ₹12-18 LPA according to Glassdoor India.

Same skills. Same work. 3-5x the pay. The only difference is who you work for.

India has become the number one source for remote engineering talent globally. A 2025 report from Deel showed that India overtook the Philippines and Eastern Europe as the top country for remote hiring, with a 50%+ year-over-year increase in remote contracts. Companies are not doing this out of charity. Indian developers are genuinely world-class, cost-effective, and operate in a timezone that overlaps with both Europe and the US west coast.

But here is the problem: most Indian job seekers have no idea which companies actually hire remotely from India, what they pay, or how to get in. They are still fighting for on-campus placements at TCS and Infosys while companies like GitLab and Automattic are hiring from India at 5x the salary, fully remote, no relocation needed.

We spent three weeks researching this. We verified every company on this list by checking their careers pages, talking to Indian employees at these companies, and cross-referencing salary data from Glassdoor, Levels.fyi, and Blind. Every company here genuinely hires from India for remote positions.

Let us be clear about one contrarian take before we start: do not apply to FAANG remote roles if you are a fresher. Google, Meta, and Apple have been pulling back on remote hiring since 2023, and the remote positions that exist are almost exclusively for senior and staff-level engineers. If you are 0-3 years in, your best bet is remote-first companies: companies that were built remote from day one. That is what this list focuses on.

Another thing worth saying upfront: Turing and Toptal are NOT the same thing. We see these two confused constantly. Toptal is a freelance marketplace where you work on client projects (and they take a cut). Turing is closer to a staffing company that places you at a US company as a long-term contractor. Both are legitimate, but the experience, stability, and pay structure are completely different. We will cover both below.

How We Organized This List#

We grouped the 25 companies into five categories:

  1. Big Tech Remote: large, established companies with remote-friendly policies for India
  2. Remote-First Startups: companies that were born remote, no headquarters
  3. Developer Tools: companies building tools for developers (they tend to hire developers who use their own products)
  4. Fintech: financial technology companies with strong India hiring
  5. Design, Creative, and Productivity: non-engineering-heavy companies that still hire technical and non-technical remote roles

For each company, we list: what they do, roles they hire for from India, salary ranges (in USD and INR equivalent), the direct link to apply, and one insider tip that increases your chances.

Salary ranges are estimates based on Glassdoor, Levels.fyi, Blind, and conversations with current employees. Actual offers vary by role, experience, and negotiation. We are using 1 USD = ₹83 for conversions.

Category 1: Big Tech Remote#

These are large, publicly traded (or late-stage) companies that have established remote hiring pipelines from India.

1. Atlassian

What they do: Builds Jira, Confluence, Trello, and Bitbucket, tools that practically every software team on the planet uses.

Remote policy: Atlassian went "Team Anywhere" in 2022 and has stuck with it. They hire across India and have a Bangalore office that is optional, and you can work from anywhere in India.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers, SREs, Product Managers, Data Scientists, Design.

Salary range: $50,000-$120,000 (₹41-99 LPA) depending on level. India-based roles are adjusted for local market but still significantly above Indian market rates.

Apply here: atlassian.com/company/careers

Insider tip: Atlassian values "Don't #@!% the customer" as a literal company value. In interviews, demonstrate customer empathy with concrete examples. Their system design rounds focus heavily on scale. Jira handles millions of issues daily.

2. Shopify

What they do: The e-commerce platform powering millions of online stores worldwide.

Remote policy: Shopify declared itself "digital by default" in 2020. They hire remotely across India, with a preference for candidates who have experience working asynchronously.

Roles they hire for: Backend Engineers (Ruby, Go), Frontend Engineers (React), Data Engineers, Mobile Developers.

Salary range: $55,000-$110,000 (₹45-91 LPA). Shopify benchmarks to the 75th percentile of local market rates.

Apply here: shopify.com/careers

Insider tip: Shopify runs "Life Story" interviews where they want to understand your entire career trajectory, not just technical skills. Prepare a compelling narrative about why you build things. Their CEO Tobi Lutke is publicly obsessed with developer productivity: showing that you care about DX (developer experience) in your own work goes a long way.

3. Twilio

What they do: Communications APIs, the infrastructure behind SMS, voice, video, and email for thousands of apps.

Remote policy: Twilio has offices in India but supports remote work. They have been hiring remote engineers from India consistently since 2021.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers, Solutions Engineers, Developer Evangelists, Technical Support Engineers.

Salary range: $45,000-$100,000 (₹37-83 LPA). Solutions Engineer roles tend to pay at the higher end because they combine technical and client-facing skills.

Apply here: twilio.com/company/jobs

Insider tip: Build something with the Twilio API before you apply. Seriously. Their hiring process heavily favors candidates who have hands-on experience with their products. A side project using Twilio SendGrid or Twilio Video will get you past the resume screen faster than a FAANG internship.

4. Cloudflare

What they do: Internet security, CDN, DNS, and edge computing. They power roughly 20% of the internet.

Remote policy: Cloudflare has offices in India but hires remote engineers. They have been expanding their India team significantly, with remote roles in engineering and security.

Roles they hire for: Systems Engineers, Network Engineers, Security Engineers, Full-Stack Engineers, Technical Writers.

Salary range: $50,000-$110,000 (₹41-91 LPA). Infrastructure and security roles tend to command higher pay.

Apply here: cloudflare.com/careers

Insider tip: Cloudflare publishes an extraordinary amount of technical content on their blog. Read the last 10-15 posts before your interview. They ask about networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP) more than most companies. If you understand how the internet actually works at the protocol level, you are ahead of 90% of applicants.

5. HubSpot

What they do: CRM, marketing automation, sales tools, and content management. Used by over 200,000 businesses.

Remote policy: HubSpot offers a hybrid/remote model and has been hiring from India for product engineering and customer-facing roles.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers (Java, Python), Product Designers, Customer Success Managers, Marketing roles.

Salary range: $40,000-$95,000 (₹33-79 LPA). Non-engineering roles like Customer Success and Marketing tend to be at the lower end but still pay well above Indian market rates.

Apply here: hubspot.com/careers

Insider tip: HubSpot has a public Culture Code document with over 5 million views. Read it. They hire for culture fit as much as technical skill, and referencing specific values from the Culture Code in your interview shows you have done your homework.

Category 2: Remote-First Startups#

These companies have no headquarters. Everyone works remotely. They were built this way from day one, which means their processes, documentation, and culture are designed for distributed teams.

6. GitLab

What they do: DevOps platform. The entire software development lifecycle in one tool. Competitor to GitHub.

Remote policy: GitLab is the gold standard of remote work. Over 2,000 employees across 65+ countries. They have the most detailed remote work handbook ever written: it is public, 2,000+ pages, and covers everything from how they run meetings to how they promote people.

Roles they hire for: Backend Engineers (Ruby, Go), Frontend Engineers (Vue.js), SREs, Product Managers, Technical Writers, Security Engineers.

Salary range: $50,000-$130,000 (₹41-108 LPA). GitLab uses a transparent compensation calculator that adjusts for location. India-based salaries are typically 0.65-0.75x of San Francisco benchmarks.

Apply here: about.gitlab.com/jobs

Insider tip: GitLab's hiring process is entirely asynchronous. No live coding interviews. Instead, you submit a merge request to a test project. This favors people who write clean, well-documented code over people who are fast under pressure. Take your time. Write tests. Write comments. Their handbook literally says they value "boring solutions", so don't over-engineer.

7. Automattic

What they do: The company behind WordPress.com, WooCommerce, Tumblr, and Jetpack. WordPress powers 43% of the internet.

Remote policy: Fully distributed since founding in 2005, one of the original remote-first companies. 2,000+ employees, 90+ countries.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers (PHP, JavaScript, React), Happiness Engineers (customer support with a technical twist), Designers, Data Scientists.

Salary range: $50,000-$120,000 (₹41-99 LPA). Automattic pays the same regardless of location; they do not adjust for cost of living. This makes India one of the best places to work for them in terms of purchasing power.

Apply here: automattic.com/work-with-us

Insider tip: Automattic's hiring process includes a paid trial project (typically 2-4 weeks, paid at your expected rate). This is unusual and extremely valuable because it lets both sides test the fit. If you get to the trial stage, treat it like the real job. Communicate proactively, ask questions in their internal P2 blogs, and ship something meaningful. The trial is the interview.

8. Canonical

What they do: The company behind Ubuntu Linux. They also build cloud infrastructure tools (MAAS, Juju, LXD) and enterprise Kubernetes solutions.

Remote policy: Fully remote across 40+ countries, including India. They have been actively hiring Indian engineers for years.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers (Python, Go, C/C++), DevOps Engineers, QA Engineers, Documentation Engineers, Web Engineers.

Salary range: $40,000-$90,000 (₹33-75 LPA). Canonical is known for paying slightly below market compared to US-funded startups, but the work-life balance and open-source contribution opportunities are genuine perks.

Apply here: canonical.com/careers

Insider tip: Canonical's interview process is long: 4-6 rounds including a written assessment, a technical exercise, and multiple interviews. The written assessment is unusual: they ask you to write about your approach to engineering, your views on open source, and your working style. Take it seriously. Candidates who write thoughtful, detailed responses advance. Those who treat it like a formality do not.

9. Zapier

What they do: Automation platform connecting 6,000+ apps. "If this, then that" for business workflows.

Remote policy: 100% remote since founding. Around 800 employees globally. No offices anywhere.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers (Python, Node.js, React), Product Managers, Data Engineers, Marketing, Support.

Salary range: $55,000-$130,000 (₹45-108 LPA). Zapier uses a location-adjusted compensation model. India salaries are typically 60-70% of US benchmarks, which is still excellent by Indian standards.

Apply here: zapier.com/jobs

Insider tip: Zapier puts enormous emphasis on written communication. Their entire culture runs on async documents, not meetings. Before you apply, read their blog posts on remote work. In your application, write clearly and concisely. If your cover letter is verbose or poorly structured, it signals that you will struggle in their async-first environment.

10. Buffer

What they do: Social media management platform. Known for radical transparency: they publish everyone's salary publicly.

Remote policy: Fully remote since 2015. Small team (under 100), extremely transparent culture.

Roles they hire for: Full-Stack Engineers, Mobile Engineers (React Native), Data Analysts, Customer Advocates.

Salary range: $50,000-$100,000 (₹41-83 LPA). Buffer publishes their salary formula publicly. You can literally calculate your expected salary before applying.

Apply here: buffer.com/journey

Insider tip: Because Buffer publishes salaries, there is no negotiation. The salary is the salary. What differentiates candidates is alignment with their values (transparency, positivity, self-improvement). Buffer is a small team, so culture fit matters more here than at a 2,000-person company. Your application essay matters as much as your code.

11. Doist

What they do: Builds Todoist (task management) and Twist (async communication). Small, profitable, no VC funding.

Remote policy: Fully remote since founding. Around 100 employees across 30+ countries. They are vocal about async work and anti-meeting culture.

Roles they hire for: Full-Stack Engineers (Python, TypeScript), Mobile Engineers (Android/iOS), Product Designers, QA Engineers.

Salary range: $45,000-$95,000 (₹37-79 LPA). Doist is bootstrapped, so salaries are slightly lower than VC-funded competitors, but the stability and work-life balance are exceptional.

Apply here: doist.com/careers

Insider tip: Doist has a strong anti-hustle-culture stance. In your application, do not brag about working 80-hour weeks or "grinding." They want people who are productive in 40 hours and have lives outside of work. Their blog has excellent writing about async work culture. Reference it.

Category 3: Developer Tools#

Companies building tools for developers tend to hire developers who understand their users because they ARE their users. If you are an active open-source contributor or power user of any of these tools, you have a built-in advantage.

12. Elastic

What they do: The Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats), the backbone of search, logging, and observability for thousands of companies.

Remote policy: Elastic was a "source-available distributed company" from the beginning. They hire across India for engineering and support roles.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers (Java, Go), Solutions Architects, Support Engineers, Technical Writers.

Salary range: $55,000-$120,000 (₹45-99 LPA). Post-IPO compensation includes RSUs, which can significantly increase total comp.

Apply here: elastic.co/about/careers

Insider tip: Elastic contributes heavily to open source. If you have contributed to the Elastic Stack or used it extensively in a project, mention it prominently. Their interview process includes a practical exercise using Elasticsearch. Being comfortable with the product is a prerequisite, not a bonus.

13. HashiCorp

What they do: Infrastructure automation: Terraform, Vault, Consul, Nomad. If you have ever written a .tf file, you know HashiCorp.

Remote policy: Remote-first with optional offices. They hire extensively from India, particularly for engineering and solutions architecture.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers (Go), Solutions Engineers, Developer Advocates, Support Engineers.

Salary range: $55,000-$125,000 (₹45-104 LPA). HashiCorp RSUs add meaningful value post-IPO.

Apply here: hashicorp.com/careers

Insider tip: HashiCorp interviews include a heavy focus on Go programming. If you are applying for an engineering role and do not know Go, learn it first. Their codebase is almost entirely Go, and interview questions reflect that. Also, having Terraform certifications (HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate) is a genuine signal that gets you past resume screening.

14. MongoDB

What they do: The most popular NoSQL database. Used by tens of thousands of companies from startups to Fortune 500.

Remote policy: MongoDB has a large India presence (office in Gurugram) with remote-friendly roles available across the country.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers (C++, Go, Java), Cloud Engineers, Solutions Architects, Technical Services Engineers.

Salary range: $50,000-$120,000 (₹41-99 LPA). India-office roles may have slightly different comp structures than fully remote roles.

Apply here: mongodb.com/careers

Insider tip: MongoDB interviews test database internals deeply: B-trees, replication, sharding, consistency models. Do not just know how to use MongoDB. Understand how it works underneath. Their engineering blog covers these topics well. If you can discuss the WiredTiger storage engine intelligently, you will stand out.

15. Datadog

What they do: Cloud monitoring and observability platform. One of the fastest-growing infrastructure companies in the world.

Remote policy: Datadog has offices in India and supports remote work for many roles. They have been aggressively expanding their India engineering team.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers (Go, Python, Java), SREs, Sales Engineers, Product Managers.

Salary range: $55,000-$130,000 (₹45-108 LPA). Datadog is known for paying well, and their stock has performed strongly, making RSUs valuable.

Apply here: careers.datadoghq.com

Insider tip: Datadog's interview process is algorithm-heavy. Expect LeetCode medium-to-hard problems. But the differentiator is the system design round: they want you to design monitoring and alerting systems, which is their bread and butter. Before interviewing, understand concepts like time-series databases, distributed tracing, and metric aggregation at scale.

16. Vercel

What they do: The company behind Next.js. Frontend cloud platform for deploying web applications.

Remote policy: Fully remote. Vercel is a distributed team that hires globally, including from India.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers (TypeScript, Rust, Go), Developer Experience Engineers, Solutions Engineers, Technical Writers.

Salary range: $60,000-$140,000 (₹50-116 LPA). Vercel pays competitively, particularly for engineers who contribute to Next.js or the frontend ecosystem.

Apply here: vercel.com/careers

Insider tip: Vercel hires people who are active in the open-source JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem. If you have contributed to Next.js, created popular npm packages, or have a strong presence on GitHub with frontend projects, you are exactly who they are looking for. Your GitHub profile is your resume here.

17. Supabase

What they do: Open-source Firebase alternative. Postgres database, authentication, storage, and edge functions.

Remote policy: Fully remote, globally distributed. Small team (under 150) growing fast.

Roles they hire for: Backend Engineers (TypeScript, Elixir, Go), Frontend Engineers, Developer Advocates, Support Engineers.

Salary range: $50,000-$120,000 (₹41-99 LPA). As an earlier-stage company, equity can be significant if they continue their growth trajectory.

Apply here: supabase.com/careers

Insider tip: Supabase is deeply open source. Their entire product is on GitHub. The single best thing you can do before applying is contribute to their repos. Fix a bug, improve documentation, add a feature. They track contributions and actively hire from their contributor community. A merged PR is worth more than a polished resume.

Category 4: Fintech#

Fintech companies handling money need engineers who understand security, compliance, and reliability. They also tend to pay well because the cost of engineering failure is measured in actual dollars lost.

18. Stripe

What they do: Payment infrastructure for the internet. Powers payments for millions of businesses including Amazon, Google, and Shopify.

Remote policy: Stripe has a "remote hub" model with offices in major cities and remote roles available. They have been hiring from India, particularly in engineering and operations.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers (Ruby, Java, Go), Infrastructure Engineers, Product Managers, Risk/Compliance Analysts.

Salary range: $70,000-$150,000 (₹58-124 LPA). Stripe is one of the highest-paying companies on this list. Even India-adjusted salaries are exceptional.

Apply here: stripe.com/jobs

Insider tip: Stripe's interview is famously rigorous. They have a "bug squash" round where you debug real Stripe code, and a "code walkthrough" where you explain a project you have built. The key differentiator: Stripe cares about clarity of thought as much as correctness. Explain your reasoning out loud, even when you are not sure. A well-reasoned wrong answer beats a correct answer with no explanation.

19. Deel

What they do: Global payroll and compliance platform. Helps companies hire and pay people in 150+ countries legally.

Remote policy: Fully remote. Deel practices what it preaches: their entire company is distributed globally, with a significant number of employees in India.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers (TypeScript, React, Node.js), Product Managers, Sales, Operations, Legal/Compliance.

Salary range: $45,000-$110,000 (₹37-91 LPA). Deel also hires for non-engineering roles (sales, operations) at competitive rates.

Apply here: deel.com/careers

Insider tip: Deel is growing extremely fast (they hit $500M ARR in 2024). Fast-growing companies promote faster. If you join now, the career growth trajectory over 2-3 years will likely be steeper than at a mature company. In your interview, show that you can handle ambiguity and context-switching because startups at this growth stage change priorities weekly.

20. Remote.com

What they do: Global HR platform for managing remote employees, contractors, and payroll across countries.

Remote policy: Fully remote (obviously, it is in the name). They hire from India for engineering, sales, and operations roles.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers (Elixir, React), Product Designers, Sales, HR/People Operations.

Salary range: $40,000-$100,000 (₹33-83 LPA). Remote.com is a direct competitor to Deel, with slightly lower pay but strong benefits including equity.

Apply here: remote.com/careers

Insider tip: Remote.com uses Elixir for their backend, which is relatively niche. If you know Elixir (or Erlang/OTP), you are in a small pool of candidates, which dramatically increases your chances. If you do not know Elixir but know functional programming concepts, mention that. They are willing to train.

Category 5: Design, Creative, and Productivity#

Not every remote role requires you to write code. These companies hire for design, product, marketing, and support roles in addition to engineering.

21. Figma

What they do: Collaborative design tool that has essentially replaced Sketch and Adobe XD for most product teams.

Remote policy: Figma supports remote work and has been expanding its global hiring footprint, including India.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers (C++, TypeScript, WebAssembly), Product Designers, Developer Relations, Sales Engineers.

Salary range: $60,000-$140,000 (₹50-116 LPA). Figma pays at the top of the market for design-tool companies. Their engineering roles are particularly well-compensated because the product involves complex real-time collaboration and rendering.

Apply here: figma.com/careers

Insider tip: Figma's engineering challenges are genuinely hard: real-time multiplayer collaboration, WebGL rendering, conflict resolution algorithms. If you have experience with CRDTs, WebSockets at scale, or canvas/WebGL rendering, highlight it prominently. For design roles, your Figma portfolio IS the interview: they will judge how you use their own tool.

22. Hotjar

What they do: Behavior analytics: heatmaps, session recordings, surveys. Helps websites understand how users interact with their product.

Remote policy: Fully remote since founding. Based in Malta on paper, but employees are spread across 40+ countries including India.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers (Python, JavaScript, React), Data Engineers, Product Managers, Marketing, Customer Support.

Salary range: $45,000-$100,000 (₹37-83 LPA). Hotjar was acquired by Contentsquare in 2021, which has added stability and slightly improved compensation.

Apply here: hotjar.com/careers

Insider tip: Hotjar processes billions of data points from user sessions. If you have experience with data pipelines, event streaming (Kafka), or handling high-throughput data, that is directly relevant. Their interview process includes a "culture interview" that they take seriously, so read their company values page and prepare specific examples of how you have demonstrated those values.

23. Toptal

What they do: A freelance talent marketplace that connects top-tier freelancers with clients. They claim to accept only the top 3% of applicants.

Remote policy: Fully remote by nature: all work is done remotely for clients worldwide. Large Indian freelancer base.

Roles they hire for: Freelance Software Engineers, Designers, Product Managers, Finance Experts, Project Managers.

Salary range: $30-$80/hour (₹25-66 LPA for full-time equivalent). Pay varies significantly based on the client project. Senior specialists can earn $100+/hour.

Apply here: toptal.com/talent/apply

Insider tip: Toptal's screening process is brutal: algorithm challenges, live coding, and a test project. The pass rate is genuinely low. But once you are in, the work is steady and well-paid. The key difference from Turing: you control your projects and schedule on Toptal. You are a freelancer, not an employee. This means more freedom but also less stability. Prepare for their algorithm round the same way you would prepare for a FAANG interview: LeetCode hard problems are fair game.

24. Turing

What they do: AI-powered platform that matches developers with US companies for long-term, full-time remote work.

Remote policy: 100% remote. Turing places you at a US company as a full-time remote contractor. You work for the client company but Turing handles payments, compliance, and placement.

Roles they hire for: Full-Stack Engineers, Frontend Engineers, Backend Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Data Scientists, Mobile Developers.

Salary range: $30,000-$80,000 (₹25-66 LPA). Senior developers with niche skills (ML, blockchain, distributed systems) can earn $100,000+. Turing takes a margin on top of what you earn.

Apply here: turing.com/jobs

Insider tip: This is the critical difference between Turing and Toptal that most people miss. With Turing, you are matched to a single US company and work full-time (40 hours/week) as a long-term team member. It feels like having a regular job, just through a middleman. The advantage: you get US-company experience on your resume. The disadvantage: Turing takes a cut (reportedly 30-50% of what the client pays), so you earn less than if you had gotten the role directly. Use Turing as a stepping stone. Build experience, then apply directly to remote companies from this list.

25. InVision

What they do: Digital product design platform. While InVision has shifted from its original prototyping tool, the company still operates in the design collaboration space.

Remote policy: Fully remote since 2020. InVision was one of the largest fully remote companies before the pandemic made it mainstream.

Roles they hire for: Software Engineers, Product Designers, Engineering Managers, DevOps Engineers.

Salary range: $45,000-$100,000 (₹37-83 LPA). InVision has gone through significant restructuring, so verify current openings carefully.

Apply here: invisionapp.com/company

Insider tip: InVision has been through layoffs and strategic pivots over the past few years. This is not necessarily a red flag (many companies go through this), but do your due diligence. Check Glassdoor reviews from the last 6 months, not from 2022. If the role aligns with their current product direction, it can be a good opportunity to join at a discount valuation and grow as the company stabilizes.

Salary Reality Check: What Remote Pay Actually Looks Like From India#

Let us put real numbers on this so there is no confusion.

Experience LevelTypical Remote Salary (USD)INR Equivalent (at ₹83/USD)
0-2 years (Fresher/Junior)$25,000-$45,000₹20-37 LPA
2-5 years (Mid-level)$45,000-$80,000₹37-66 LPA
5-8 years (Senior)$80,000-$130,000₹66-108 LPA
8+ years (Staff/Lead)$120,000-$180,000+₹99-150+ LPA

For context, a mid-level developer (3+ years experience) earning ₹30-60 LPA remotely is entirely realistic. That is not aspirational. That is the median range across the companies on this list. Many developers in India reach ₹50 LPA within 4-5 years of experience working remotely, a number that might take 8-10 years at an Indian company.

The catch: getting your first remote job is the hardest. Once you have 1-2 years of remote experience on your resume, the next one becomes significantly easier. Treat the first remote role as an investment even if the pay is not the highest on this list.

How to Actually Get Hired at These Companies#

Having a list is step one. Here is how to convert it into an actual offer.

1. Your resume needs to be globally competitive, not just India-competitive.

The ATS systems at these companies receive applications from developers worldwide. Your resume needs to stand out against candidates from Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia, not just other Indian applicants. Run it through an ATS checker to make sure it parses correctly. A resume that works for TCS and Infosys is often formatted completely wrong for international ATS tools.

2. Build in public.

Every company on this list values open-source contributions, blog posts, side projects, and public technical work. GitLab, Supabase, Vercel, Elastic. They all check your GitHub before your resume. If your GitHub is empty or full of "Hello World" repos, that is a problem. Start contributing to one open-source project today.

3. Write well.

Remote companies communicate through writing: Slack messages, documentation, pull request descriptions, design docs. If your written English is strong (and you are reading this article, so it probably is), that is a genuine competitive advantage. Many Indian developers who are technically excellent get filtered out because their application materials or interview communication is unclear. Practice writing technical documents.

4. Apply directly. Skip the portals.

Almost every company on this list prefers direct applications through their careers page over LinkedIn Easy Apply or job portals. We aggregate open positions from many of these companies on our Remote Jobs board to make this easier, but always apply through the company's own careers page for the best chance.

5. Be timezone-aware.

Remote does not mean "work whenever." Most companies expect 4-6 hours of overlap with US or European timezones. For India, this means:

  • US-based companies: You will likely work 6 PM to 2 AM IST (or some variation). Know this before you apply.
  • European-based companies: Much friendlier overlap. 1 PM to 9 PM IST is common.
  • Async-first companies (GitLab, Doist, Zapier): True flexibility. You can work Indian business hours if you communicate proactively.

6. Do not undersell yourself on salary.

Indian developers systematically ask for less than they are worth in remote roles. If a company posts a salary range of $50,000-$80,000 and you ask for $35,000 because "it's still great by Indian standards," you are leaving $15,000+ on the table AND signaling that you do not value your own work. Research the range, ask for the midpoint or higher, and negotiate.

The Bottom Line#

The remote job market for Indian developers in 2026 is the best it has ever been. Companies that would never have considered hiring from India a decade ago are now actively seeking Indian talent. The combination of strong technical education, English proficiency, favorable timezone overlap, and cost efficiency makes India the top destination for remote engineering hiring globally.

But opportunity is not the same as access. Most Indian job seekers do not know these companies exist, do not know they are hiring from India, and do not know how to position themselves for international roles. If you have read this far, you are already ahead.

Pick 5 companies from this list that genuinely interest you. Research them. Tailor your resume for each one. Contribute to their open-source projects if applicable. Apply directly through their careers pages. Follow up.

The ₹30-60 LPA remote salary that seems unrealistic from your college campus is just a job application away.
