What AI does in teaching today

Module 1: What AI already does in your job

Course outline

Quick check

Guess first, no penalty. Anthropic looked at real conversations and estimated how long curriculum tasks (planning what and how to teach) take with Claude. Which is closest to its estimate?

Anthropic's Estimating AI productivity gains from Claude conversations (November 2025) found "users complete curriculum development tasks that Claude thinks would take 4.5 hours in just 11 minutes." Read that as a ceiling, not a promise. Checking is your time, and it's real.

AI drafts lesson plan outlines, worksheets, quiz questions, rubrics (scoring guides), slide outlines, emails to families, and simpler or harder versions of a text. The study we use gives no figure for teachers, so this lesson describes tasks, not a percentage.
