Keep customer details private

Module 1 : What AI already does on the road and at dispatch

Plan du cours

Cette leçon n'est pas encore dans votre langue, la voici donc en anglais.

Petit test

Guess first, no penalty. You want a free AI chat app to write a message for a missed delivery. What do you paste?

Paste the job, not the person

Customer details are personal data, meaning information about a person who can be identified: a name, an address, a phone number. A door code or "key under the mat" note can put a home at risk.

In the UK and the EU, the GDPR says personal data must be "adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary". The UK regulator, the ICO, puts it simply: "you should identify the minimum amount of personal data you need to fulfil your purpose" (ICO). Rules differ by country, and this isn't legal advice. Your company's policy says which tools are approved.

The habit is simple: use the order number, and leave everything else out.

A privacy-safe prompt

A prompt is the message you type into the tool.

Write a short message for a missed delivery.
Order: 7713. Attempted: today between 2 and 3 pm.
What happened: no one home, parcel taken back to the depot.
Next step: they can rebook online or collect from the depot.
2 to 3 sentences, polite and plain.

No name, no address, no phone number, no door code. The message works just as well.

Complétez les trous

Fill the gaps so the prompt carries the job, not the person.
