Guess first, no penalty. A 2026 study tracked what people really use AI for at work. For marketing specialists, which task came out on top?
Anthropic's study Labor market impacts of AI, by Maxim Massenkoff and Peter McCrory (5 March 2026), measured observed exposure: the share of a job's core tasks that people actually use AI for at work. In its Figure 3, "Most exposed occupations", market research analysts and marketing specialists sit at 64.8%. Their top task is to "prepare reports of findings, illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings into written text".
"Covers a task" means AI is used for that task. It doesn't mean the job is gone.
What AI takes, and what you keep
| Task | AI does today | You keep |
|---|---|---|
| Reports | Turns a table into a summary | Why the numbers moved, and the next move |
| First drafts | Writes emails, posts and pages from a brief | The angle and the offer |
| Ad copy | Writes many versions to test | Which claims are true |
Hand over the top task
A prompt is the message you type into the tool. Here's one for the task AI covers most, written to keep it from inventing:
Summarize this campaign report for our sales team in 5 bullets.
Data: [paste the table: channel, spend, clicks, sign-ups, this month and last].
Use only the numbers in the table. Don't guess why anything changed.
Write "reason unknown" where a reason would go.
खाली जगह भरें
Fill the gaps so the summary has no room to guess.
