Finance Salary and Job Market in the US 2026
You are job hunting in finance and you have no idea what the market actually looks like right now, or what a fair number sounds like when an offer lands. Here is what one live feed shows, dated 14 October 2026, plus the pay norms and negotiation moves that matter in the United States.
What the listings show right now#
The finance jobs feed on JobRise lists 701 open roles in United States as of 14 October 2026. That is a count of live listings, not a market survey, and it moves every day.
Momentum is decent. 483 of those 701 listings went up in the last 30 days, and 314 in the last 7 days alone. So more than a third of the visible market appeared in the past week. If you have been searching for a while, that means fresh postings are arriving faster than most people refresh their saved searches.
For context, the whole United States feed on JobRise carries 13,720 open listings across all categories, with 8,471 posted in the last 30 days. Finance is a meaningful slice of that, but it is still a slice. You can see the country-wide numbers in the JobRise Hiring Report for United States.

Who is hiring#
The names at the top of the finance list are a mix of employers and recruiting or staffing operations, so read the posting carefully before you assume who signs your paycheck.
- WealthBridge Financial Group: 194 open listings
- Anthropic: 44
- Robinhood: 22
- Stripe: 17
- Dean Dorton: 16
- City Wide Facility Solutions: 15
- Brex: 15
- Okta: 13
- Datadog: 12
- Fivetran: 10
WealthBridge Financial Group dominates the count by a wide margin, and the feed shows several of its listings are entry-level financial professional roles, including one titled "Entry Level Financial Professional (Long Island)". The rest of the top ten leans tech and fintech: Anthropic, Robinhood, Stripe, Brex, Okta, Datadog, Fivetran.
Titles worth a look include "Project Accountant" at Consigli Construction, "Principal - Head of Compliance Architecture" at Northern Trust, "Financial Operations Specialist" at Dutchie, "Director, Corporate Counsel" at BetterHelp, "Senior Manager, Payroll" at Asana, "Enhanced Due Diligence Investigations Analyst" at Gusto, "Fraud Investigations Analyst" at Gusto, and "Assistant Controller- Mountlake Terrace, WA" at Mindful Support Services. Compliance and financial crime work shows up repeatedly. So does payroll and technical accounting.
Where the jobs are#
Cities with the most finance listings in this snapshot: San Francisco (110), New York (74), Chicago (21), Denver (16), Seattle (11). The two coastal hubs hold more than half the visible roles.
Job type skews hard toward permanent work: Full-time (691), Part-time (8), Contract (2). Contract finance hiring is close to invisible in this feed. If you want a short-term gig, this is not the market for it.
Entry-level openings are scarce. Only 10 of 701 listings carry titles like intern, graduate, junior, or trainee. Examples on the feed: "Jr. Commercial Contracts Counsel" at Bully Pulpit International, "(New Grad) Account Development Representative II - Atlanta" at Samsara, "(New Grad) Account Development Representative II - Phoenix" at Samsara, and "Junior Inbound Compliance Analyst (KYC)" at Carta. New grads are competing for a thin slice.
What pay actually looks like#
Only 15 of 701 listings show a salary. That is the single most useful fact in this whole snapshot. Companies are not disclosing pay, so you cannot rely on the job boards to tell you what a role pays.
Here is every posted salary in the snapshot, quoted exactly as listed:
- "Business Lead" at Ramp: $160K, $275K • Offers Equity
- "Channel Partner Manager, Accounting" at Ramp: $14K, $214K • Offers Equity • Offers Commission • Multiple Ranges
- "Partner Development Representative | Accounting" at Ramp: $110K, $120K • Offers Equity • Offers Commission • Total OTE with 70/30 split
- "Director, Indirect Tax" at Patreon: $232K, $348K • Offers Equity
- "Financial Crimes Compliance Strategist" at Ramp: $126K, $175K • Offers Equity • Multiple Ranges
- "Director, Strategic Finance" at Ramp: $280K, $385K • Offers Equity
Notice the "Multiple Ranges" flag on two Ramp listings and the $14K floor on one of them. That is a sign the posting is aggregating several locations or seniority bands into one row. Do not anchor to the low end of a range like that.
Typical reported ranges by seniority
These are typical reported ranges for US finance roles in 2026 based on what candidates and postings commonly report. They vary a lot by city, firm type, and how the bonus is structured. Verify current numbers against official sources, your state's pay transparency postings, and the offer in front of you before you quote any of them.
- Entry level / analyst: roughly $70K to $95K base
- Senior analyst / senior associate: roughly $100K to $145K base
- Manager / senior manager: roughly $130K to $190K base
- Director: roughly $180K to $280K base
- VP and above: highly variable, often $250K base and up
The Patreon "Director, Indirect Tax" range of $232K, $348K sits at the top of the director band, which makes sense for a specialized tax leadership role in a high-cost market. The Ramp "Director, Strategic Finance" range of $280K, $385K goes well past it. Specialization and revenue proximity pay.
How US finance pay is structured#
Base salary is only one line. In the United States, a finance offer usually stacks like this:
- Base salary, paid biweekly or semimonthly
- Annual cash bonus, expressed as a percentage of base, often 10% to 30% for individual contributors and 30% to 100%+ for senior leaders
- Equity, either RSUs at public companies or stock options at private ones, typically vesting over four years with a one-year cliff
- Commission or OTE (on-target earnings) for revenue roles, as seen on the Ramp listings with a "70/30 split" and "Offers Commission"
- Benefits: 401(k) match, health insurance, HSA, sometimes an ESPP
Two things the US does not do: there is no 13th month salary, and no statutory superannuation. Those are norms in other countries. If you are relocating, adjust your expectations. The 401(k) match is the closest thing to employer retirement contribution, and it is not guaranteed to be generous.
Also note that "Offers Equity" on a listing tells you nothing about value. Ask for the share count, the current 409A or share price, the vesting schedule, and the total pool as a percentage. A big number of options in a company that will never exit is worth nothing.
How to negotiate an offer#
Do not name a number first if you can avoid it. When a recruiter asks for your expectations, answer with a question back: "I am evaluating the full package, so I would love to understand the range you have budgeted for this role." Then stop talking.
When you do get an offer, negotiate in this order:
- Get the full written offer before you respond to anything verbal
- Base salary first, because everything else is often calculated as a percentage of it
- Then signing bonus, which is the easiest dollar for a company to add
- Then equity, by asking for more shares or a shorter vest cliff
- Then title, review timing, and remote flexibility
- Use the salary negotiation tool to model your counter before you send it
Here is a script that works: "Thank you, I am excited about this role. Based on my research on comparable roles in San Francisco and the scope we discussed, I was targeting a base closer to $X. Is there flexibility on base, or on a signing bonus to close the gap?" Replace $X with a number 10% to 15% above their offer, not a fantasy number.
One more thing: if the offer came with a posted range like the ones above, use it. "The posting for this role listed $280K to $385K. Given my experience with strategic finance planning, I would be comfortable at the upper half of that range." Hard to argue with their own posting.

FAQ#
How current are these finance job numbers?
All counts here come from the JobRise live jobs feed as a snapshot dated 14 October 2026. Listings change daily, so check the live finance jobs page before you plan your search around any specific number.
Why do so few finance listings show salary?
Only 15 of 701 listings in this snapshot show pay. US pay transparency laws vary by state and city, so many employers still post without a range. When a listing does not show pay, ask for the budgeted range early in the process.
What counts as a good bonus percentage in US finance?
Individual contributor roles commonly report 10% to 30% of base as a target bonus, with leadership roles often higher. Actual payouts depend on company and individual performance, so ask what percentage of target was paid in the last two years.
Is equity worth negotiating for?
Yes, but only after you understand what it is. Ask for share count, current valuation, vesting schedule, and what happens in an acquisition. Treat private company equity as upside, not as salary.
Should I apply if I am a new grad?
Only 10 of 701 listings in this snapshot are entry-level, so competition is tight. Target the specific new grad postings on the feed, use your school's alumni network for referrals, and be ready to accept a broad analyst role rather than a specialized one.
