Marketing Salary and Job Market in India 2026
You are applying for marketing roles in India and you cannot tell what a fair offer looks like. Pay is rarely posted, titles are vague, and the same role pays very differently at a startup versus a global vendor.
Here is what the data shows right now, and how to use it when you negotiate.
What the market looks like right now#
On 14 October 2026, the JobRise live jobs feed showed 138 open marketing listings in India. You can browse the full set in our India marketing jobs hub. Of those, 124 were posted in the last 30 days and 74 in the last 7 days, so the feed is active and most listings are fresh.
That is a snapshot of one job board, not a market survey. Treat it as a sample of what employers are posting, not as a count of all marketing hiring in the country.
For wider context, the JobRise Hiring Report for India shows 1,867 open listings across all categories, with 1,345 posted in the last 30 days. Marketing is a small slice of total demand.

Who is hiring#
The companies with the most open marketing listings in this snapshot are Lokal App (14), Mongodb (6), Elastic (4), Weekday AI (4), CXG (4), Vilas (3), Maker Lab (3), Rentokil Initial (3), Maxwell Energy System Pvt Ltd (2), and Fivetran (2). Some of these names are recruiters or staffing firms, so the end employer may differ.
Cities concentrate in Bengaluru (35), Mumbai (14), Pune (7), HSR Layout (7), and Hyderabad (6). Job types are almost entirely full-time: 137 full-time against 1 contract.
Sample open roles include "Marketing Associate" at Rampwin Technologies Pvt. Ltd., "Professional Services- Project Lead (Contract)" at LRN Corporation, "Marketing AI Engineer" at Elastic, "Marketing Specialist" at Masai, "Digital Marketing" at Surya International Enterprise Ltd, "Performance Marketing Executive - Tamil (GyanTV)" at Lokal App, "Staff Technical Writer" at Okta, and "Digital Marketing and Growth Marketing Manager" at QHT Clinic.
The pay problem#
Only 47 of the 138 listings show pay at all. That is roughly one in three. Everything else is a black box until the recruiter call.
The posted numbers in this snapshot, exactly as listed, are:
- "Digital Marketing" at Tikshark: ₹2.0-3.0 LPA
- "Digital Marketing and Growth Marketing Manager" at QHT Clinic: ₹6.0-9.6 LPA
- "Marketing Strategist" at Copods: ₹8.0-12.0 LPA
- "Marketing Executive" at Vilas: ₹3.0-5.4 LPA
- "Marketing Executive" at Tushar Trans Equipment Pvt. Ltd.: ₹2.4-3.6 LPA
- "Marketing Manager" at Techwave Inc: ₹5.0-15.0 LPA
Notice the spread. A "Marketing Manager" band spans from ₹5.0 to ₹15.0 LPA, which tells you the title alone does not set the pay. Scope, team size, and revenue ownership do.
Also note: 0 of the 138 listings had entry-level titles like intern, graduate, junior, or trainee. If you are early in your career, the visible market is thin, and you should widen your search to adjacent titles.
Typical ranges by seniority#
Take these as rough reported bands from what candidates and postings commonly show, not as promises. They vary by city, company size, and whether the role is performance-linked.
- Intern or trainee: ₹1.2 to ₹2.4 LPA, often a stipend rather than CTC
- Associate or executive: ₹2.5 to ₹5 LPA
- Senior executive or specialist: ₹5 to ₹9 LPA
- Manager: ₹8 to ₹15 LPA
- Senior manager or lead: ₹12 to ₹22 LPA
- Head of marketing or director: ₹18 LPA and above, with wide variation

How pay is actually structured in India#
Read the offer letter line by line. CTC, or cost to company, is not your take-home. It includes employer contributions to PF, gratuity accrual, and sometimes insurance premiums that you never see in your bank account.
Variable pay is common in marketing, especially performance and growth roles. Ask what percentage is fixed versus variable, what the target is, and what was actually paid out in the last two cycles. A 70:30 split feels very different from 90:10.
A 13th month salary is not standard everywhere. Some companies pay it, some fold it into CTC, some skip it. Equity or ESOPs show up at startups and listed tech firms, but treat them as upside, not salary. Superannuation and NPS contributions vary by employer. Get every component in writing.
A worked example#
Say a recruiter offers "Marketing Executive" at ₹4.8 LPA and calls it a strong package. You ask for the breakdown. It turns out ₹40,000 is annual variable and ₹25,000 is employer PF contribution that is not in your monthly bank credit.
A better way to state your case:
"Thanks for the offer. Based on comparable Marketing Executive roles I am seeing in Bengaluru, the fixed component sits closer to ₹5.2 LPA. Could we look at raising the fixed portion to ₹5.2 LPA, or adding a guaranteed first-year variable so the total matches my current fixed at ₹5 LPA? I want to make the move, and I want the structure to work for both of us."
Short, specific, and anchored on fixed pay. That lands better than "I expected more".
How to negotiate#
Start before the offer. Ask the recruiter for the range early, and give a range anchored on your current fixed plus a realistic jump. Never quote a number you would not accept.
- Get the full CTC breakup in writing before you resign
- Ask what share is variable and how it is calculated
- Confirm the notice period, probation terms, and any clawback on joining bonus
- Ask about the last two years of actual variable payouts, not just targets
- Check if the role is billed to a client, since some staffing setups cap your pay
- Keep interviewing elsewhere until you sign, and say so politely if pressed
- Rehearse the exact number you will say out loud before the call
If the offer is below market, say the number you need and pause. Silence does more work than another paragraph of justification.

FAQ#
Is ₹6.0-9.6 LPA a good offer for a growth marketing manager?
It depends on city, team scope, and variable split. Compare it against your current fixed, the role's revenue targets, and what similar postings in your city show before you accept.
Why do so few marketing listings show salary?
Employers keep ranges private to preserve negotiating room and to avoid internal pay comparisons. Ask the recruiter for the band on the first call, since most will share it verbally.
Should I quote my current CTC or my expectation?
Quote your expectation, framed as a range anchored on your current fixed plus a realistic jump. Quoting current CTC alone invites an offer just above it.
Do contract marketing roles pay less?
Not always, but they usually lack benefits like PF, gratuity, and paid leave. Compare the day rate or monthly payout against a full-time CTC after subtracting those benefits.
How much can I negotiate on a marketing offer in India?
Candidates commonly push for 10 to 20 percent above the first offer when they have competing interest or rare skills. The exact figure depends on the band, the urgency of the hire, and how well you can justify it.
