Operations Salary and Job Market in India 2026
You want to know what operations work actually pays in India before you apply, and the listings themselves won't tell you. Here is what the data shows, plus the parts no job board explains: how CTC works, what gets deducted from it, and where the room to negotiate sits.
What the listings show right now#
On 14 October 2026, the Operations jobs in India feed on JobRise showed 235 open roles. Of those, 96 were posted in the last 30 days, and 60 went up in just the last 7 days. Hiring is active.
These are counts of open listings on one feed, not a market survey, so treat them as a dated snapshot of JobRise and not as a measure of total demand across the country. Fine.
Almost everything is full-time: 233 listings. Only 2 are contract. That split is unusual. If you want short-term or freelance operations work, this feed will not help you much.

Who is hiring#
The company names are dominated by one. Rentokil Initial has 134 open roles, which is more than half the total, and some of these names may be recruiters or staffing firms posting on behalf of clients, so the actual employer could sit behind a different name. Read the fine print.
Bosch Group has 17 listings, Stripe has 15, Stranger Soccer has 7, Exponent Energy has 6, Mongodb has 6, Okta has 4, Airbnb has 4, Evidence Action has 3, and Datamark, Inc. has 3.
The roles vary widely. Bosch lists a "LOG - Physical Logistics ( Warehousing / Transportations/Logistic Quality /Logistic Cost)" position and an "SAP Project Manager (S/4 HANA Transformation)" role, plus an "Asst Manager / Deputy Manager - Traded Goods Buyer". Exponent Energy lists "Lead - Vehicle Service- HV", "Storekeeper - Spare Parts Warehouse", "Manager - Spare Parts Warehouse", and "Service Head (EV 3-Wheeler)". Anglo-Eastern Ship Management lists a "Marine Personnel Assistant ( Temp Staff )".
So "operations" is not one job. It spans warehouse floor work, service management, procurement, and transformation projects. Your pay depends more on which lane you pick than on the title.
Where the jobs are#
Bengaluru leads with 57 listings, followed by Mumbai at 26, Gurugram at 11, Kolkata at 8, and Ahmedabad at 6. The rest are scattered.
If you are relocating, compare the offer against rent and commute costs in that specific city, because a lower number in Kolkata can beat a higher one in Mumbai once you price in housing. Do the maths first.
How many listings show pay#
One. Out of 235 listings, exactly one shows a salary: "Purchase Manager" at Kutty Flush Door & Furniture, posted at ₹2.0-5.0 LPA. That is the only posted figure in the set.
This is normal for India. Employers hold pay back because they want to anchor the number in the interview, not on the job ad, and that means you cannot use listings to price yourself. You need other sources.
Entry-level openings are rare here too. Only 1 of 235 listings is clearly aimed at juniors or trainees: "Junior Data Entry Operator" at Aerones. Early career? Look wider.
Typical reported ranges by seniority#
These are ranges people report for operations roles in India. They are not from the listings, they vary by city, industry, and company size, and they shift over time. Verify against current sources before you plan around them.
Rough shape, annual CTC:
- Intern or trainee: ₹1.5 to ₹3 LPA
- Executive or associate: ₹3 to ₹6 LPA
- Senior executive or team lead: ₹6 to ₹10 LPA
- Assistant manager or deputy manager: ₹8 to ₹15 LPA
- Manager: ₹12 to ₹22 LPA
- Senior manager or AGM: ₹18 to ₹35 LPA
- Head of operations or VP: ₹30 LPA and up
Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Gurugram usually sit at the higher end, and manufacturing or logistics roles often pay below tech-adjacent operations roles. For a current read on how Indian hiring is moving overall, the JobRise Hiring Report: India tracks 1,867 open listings across all categories and 1,345 posted in the last 30 days.
How pay actually works in India#
The number quoted to you is CTC, or cost to company. It is not your take-home. CTC includes your base salary, employer contributions to PF, gratuity, and sometimes items like insurance premiums or meal cards that never reach your bank account.
Expect roughly 12% of base to go to employee PF, matched by the employer inside your CTC, and professional tax and income tax come out on top of that. As a rule of thumb, take-home is often 70 to 80% of CTC, but the gap widens at higher salaries.
Other norms to know. A 13th month or festival bonus is common in manufacturing and traditional firms, less common in startups. Some companies pay a performance bonus that is "up to" a number; treat anything not in writing as zero. Superannuation applies mainly to older public sector and PSU-style employers, and equity shows up in startups and listed tech firms, but unvested options are not salary. Read the vesting schedule.
Negotiating the offer#
Get the number in writing, then negotiate the CTC structure and not just the total, because a ₹14 LPA offer with a large variable component can leave you worse off than ₹12.5 LPA fully fixed. Ask for the fixed versus variable split, the PF calculation base, and what sits under allowances.
A script that works: "Thank you for the offer. Based on the scope of the role and what similar positions pay, I was expecting something closer to ₹X LPA. Is there flexibility on the fixed component?" Then stop talking and wait.
If they cannot move on CTC, ask about the joining bonus, relocation support, or an early salary review at six months instead of twelve, because these cost the company less and are easier for a hiring manager to approve. Model your counter first with the free salary negotiation guide.
Do not resign until you have the signed offer letter and the background check is cleared. Verbal offers get pulled. It happens.
What to do before you apply#
- Pick your lane: warehouse, procurement, service, or project operations. The pay differs.
- Check the company on the job listing page for the actual employer versus a recruiter.
- Research current CTC ranges for that specific role and city before the first call.
- Ask for the fixed versus variable split early, before you invest interview time.
- Read the offer letter line by line. Ask about anything you do not understand.
FAQ#
What is a good salary for operations in India?
It depends entirely on seniority, city, and industry. A manager in Bengaluru might see ₹15 to ₹22 LPA while the same title in a Tier 2 city could be ₹8 to ₹12 LPA. Verify with current sources for your specific role.
Why do so few job listings show salary?
Because employers want to anchor the number based on your current pay and interview performance. Only 1 of 235 operations listings on JobRise showed pay on 14 October 2026. Assume you will have to ask.
Is CTC the same as take-home?
No. CTC includes employer PF contributions, gratuity, and other costs that never reach your bank account. Take-home is typically 70 to 80% of CTC, and lower at senior levels where tax bites harder.
Should I negotiate an operations offer in India?
Yes. Employers expect it, and the first number is rarely the final one. Even when CTC is fixed, you can often negotiate the joining bonus, review timeline, or the fixed versus variable split.
Are contract operations roles common in India?
Not in this dataset. Only 2 of 235 operations listings on 14 October 2026 were contract, with 233 full-time. Contract work exists in operations but is posted through staffing channels more often than public job boards.
