Singapore Job Market 2026: Fields, Employers and Skills

JobRise9 min read

Looking for work in Singapore and not sure where to start? The first question is how big the market is and where the openings sit. As of November 5, 2026, JobRise tracks 76,889 open jobs in Singapore. Of those, 63,524 (83%) were posted in the last 30 days, and 13,384 (17%) in the last 7 days.

Those numbers look fresh, but one source supplies most of them. The sections below show what that means for you, plus the skills employers ask for and what the data cannot tell you about moving there.

What this data covers#

These are jobs JobRise tracks from employer career pages and public job boards, as of November 5, 2026. It is not the whole Singapore job market. One source, MyCareersFuture, a Singapore jobs portal, supplies 89% of the jobs in this report. That is 68,463 listings, so the numbers mostly describe that portal.

JobRise started tracking on October 14, 2026. New-job counts only go back that far, and 6,941 jobs that were already open then have no known posting date, so they are left out of those counts. The full report is at /en/reports/hiring/singapore/.

Singapore job market 2026 by field#

Engineering is the largest field, with 8,012 open jobs (10% of the total). Operations (9%) and sales (8%) come next. Software is a much bigger pool here than in most markets in this series, with 5,500 open jobs (7.2%).

FieldOpen jobsShare of open jobs
Engineering8,01210%
Operations6,9149%
Sales6,1428%
Hospitality5,6517.3%
Healthcare5,6247.3%
Software5,5007.2%
Finance4,6706.1%
Marketing4,4195.7%
Logistics3,6324.7%
Admin3,5914.7%

Two notes on that table. Categories come from job titles and departments using keyword rules, so a label is a best guess from the wording. Also, "Other" holds 2,947 jobs (3.8%) that the rules could not classify. It is not a field, so it is not in the table.

Data and AI is smaller, with 1,662 open jobs (2.2%). If you are in that area, the software and engineering rows are often where the related skills show up.

Employers: recruitment firms lead the list#

The biggest single name is RECRUIT EXPRESS PTE LTD, with 3,105 open jobs (4%). The top 15 employers together hold 16% of all open jobs.

EmployerOpen jobsShare of open jobs
RECRUIT EXPRESS PTE LTD3,1054%
THE SUPREME HR ADVISORY PTE. LTD.2,1232.8%
WECRUIT PTE. LTD.1,3491.8%
Micron1,2211.6%
Talent Trader Group7521%
ANRADUS PTE. LTD.7110.9%
PERSOL SINGAPORE PTE. LTD.5520.7%

Many of the top names are recruitment or HR firms, such as RECRUIT EXPRESS, WECRUIT and TRUST RECRUIT. The report counts the employer named on the posting, so a recruiter's listing shows under the recruiter. Ask who will actually employ you before you accept an offer.

Read titles closely too. Micron's latest roles include "Staff Architectural Engineer (Boise)", which names a US site, so check the location line on each posting.

Where in Singapore: the city data is thin#

The city list does not give a reliable ranking. The largest named area is Central Singapore, with 856 jobs (1.1%). Labels such as Boise, Fab 10N and Fab 10A look like company site names rather than places.

Use the location line in each posting instead of this list. If you need a specific area, check it on the posting itself.

Remote share: small, and based on a few jobs#

Of the 6,252 jobs from sources that mark whether a role is remote, 639 are remote. That is 10%.

Keep two limits in mind. First, those 6,252 jobs are a small slice of the 76,889 open jobs, because MyCareersFuture, which holds most listings, does not mark remote work. Second, the report counts remote roles limited to applicants in Singapore. A remote job here does not mean you can take it while living abroad.

Skills Singapore employers ask for in 2026#

Skills are ranked by the number of companies whose open jobs name them, so one employer's copied text cannot top the list. The 30-day change compares the skill's share of jobs posted in the last 30 days with its share in the 30 days before.

SkillCompaniesOpen jobs30-day change
Excel3,7317,129+23%
Customer service3,5877,625+38%
Microsoft Office3,5548,083+28%
Procurement3,2135,733+4.6%
Negotiation2,3794,479+6.9%
Project management2,2624,442-3.1%

Stakeholder management1,8144,519-20%
Driving licence1,4952,413+60%
PowerPoint1,4872,528+22%

Excel, customer service and Microsoft Office are the three most-named skills. Excel alone is named by 3,731 companies, so a resume without it will look thin for most office roles. Use the exact wording, "Microsoft Office" or "Excel", as the posting does.

English and Chinese in Singapore#

English is named by 2,079 companies across 3,334 open jobs. That is 4.3% of jobs, and its 30-day change is -16%. Chinese is named by 1,273 companies across 1,816 open jobs (2.4%), with a 30-day change of +15%.

FieldEnglish (companies / open jobs)Chinese (companies / open jobs)

Education172 / 25185 / 122
Healthcare156 / 222not in top list
Customer support135 / 15490 / 99

A skill named in a posting is not a fluency rule. The data does not show the level asked for, so read the language line on each posting. The data also does not show whether a role needs a local work pass or visa, which is a separate question covered below.

Software and tech skills#

The software field has 5,500 open jobs. These are the most-named technical skills in that field:

  • Cybersecurity: 475 companies, 971 open jobs, -11% in 30 days.
  • Python: 469 companies, 1,066 open jobs, +28%.
  • CI/CD: 423 companies, 1,124 open jobs, +46%.
  • AWS: 418 companies, 1,126 open jobs, +38%.
  • SQL: 351 companies, 669 open jobs, +23%.

If you are in software, Python, CI/CD and AWS are the strongest signals in this data, because each one is named by hundreds of companies and each is up in the last 30 days.

Rising skills in Singapore#

JobRise marks a skill as rising when it is up more than 25%, in at least 50 open jobs, at 20 or more companies. These are the top rising skills in the Singapore data:

SkillCompaniesOpen jobs30-day change
General ledger423561+64%
Event management347500+63%
Driving licence1,4952,413+60%
Inventory management1,4612,367+52%
Docker355911+48%
ACCA429659+43%

Rising means more job posts name the skill, not that it pays more. For finance and accounting roles, General ledger and ACCA are worth listing if you have them. For logistics, a driving licence and inventory management are the terms to write down.

Expats: remote share, English and what to check#

English is named in more than 2,000 companies' postings, so it is a common skill in this data. But the data does not tell you whether a given employer will sponsor a work pass, how long a pass takes, or which passes apply to your situation. It also does not show salary ranges. Some job titles include a pay figure, but this post does not summarise those.

Check three things on every posting before you apply:

  • The work pass or visa line. The data cannot tell you whether a role will sponsor you.
  • The location line. Some titles name other countries or sites.
  • The language line. A skill like English or Chinese in the list does not show the level asked for.

Official Singapore government sources have the current pass rules. Check them before you give up a job or plan a move.

What to do this week#

  1. Choose the field that matches your background. Engineering, operations and sales have the most openings here. Software has 5,500 jobs, so it is a real market, not a niche.
  2. Check who the employer is. Recruitment firms post many roles. Ask who will employ you before you accept any offer.
  3. Match your resume to the posting's words. If a posting names Excel, Microsoft Office or customer service, use that exact term where it is true. Run one posting through the free ATS check.
  4. Check the pass, location and language line on every posting, as covered above.
  5. Decode hard postings. Paste any unfamiliar posting into the job description decoder before you decide.
  6. Apply in small batches with a short message. Use the cover letter tool for each role, and read how to write a cold email to a recruiter for the outreach side.

If you are moving to Singapore from abroad#

The data gives you three useful facts: 10% of the jobs that say whether they are remote are remote for Singapore applicants, English is named by 2,079 companies, and software has 5,500 open jobs. It does not show visas, work passes or salary, so those are your job to check on each posting.
