Remote Jobs 2026: Which Fields Are Hiring Remotely

JobRise10 min read

Remote jobs in 2026 are easy to find and hard to win. The "Remote" filter returns thousands of listings, and plenty of applicants still send out application after application without a reply. Knowing which fields really hire remotely, and which countries those roles are open to, is the fastest way to stop applying blind.

JobRise tracks 27,244 open remote jobs as of November 2, 2026 at 1:05 PM UTC. The jobs come from employer career pages and public job boards. That is not the whole job market, only the part JobRise can see, but the field and country splits show clear patterns you can act on.

This post covers three things: which fields post the most remote roles, how the remote share changes from country to country, and what to change in your application so a remote recruiter notices it.

Remote jobs 2026 by field: where remote hiring is#

These are the fields with the most open remote jobs:

  • Data & AI: 4,947
  • Software: 4,013
  • Sales: 3,113
  • Marketing: 2,108
  • Healthcare: 1,802
  • Operations: 1,801
  • HR: 1,284
  • Engineering: 1,248
  • Finance: 943
  • Customer support: 869

Data & AI and Software lead, and the sample listings match. Eleven LABS posts full-time remote roles for a full-stack engineer and a mobile engineer. JetBridge has a senior data engineer role open to applicants in a long list of countries.

Healthcare is in the top five, which surprises people who assume healthcare means hands-on work. The healthcare sample in our data is a medical appointment setter from There is Talent, a non-clinical role. Read each healthcare listing for what the job actually does before you assume you need a clinical background.

Sales and Marketing are the next biggest groups. Smartsheet has a senior channel account manager and a principal software engineer on remote full-time terms. IDT Corporation is hiring a user acquisition manager for app campaigns, also remote. Operations, HR, Engineering, Finance and Customer support follow. Danaher's EMEA payroll specialist role is remote for applicants in Austria, Hungary and Poland.

Remote internships exist too. The Internships category has 195 remote listings, so fresh graduates should not assume remote is only for people with years of experience.

The smallest remote categories are hands-on fields: Skilled trades (117), Manufacturing (92), Construction (52), Retail (50) and Hospitality (48). Remote hiring in these fields is rare. If you work in one of them, look at the back-office side, such as scheduling, planning or customer contact, because those roles are the ones more likely to be done from home.

One caution before you use these counts. They are counts, not shares. A field with a lot of jobs overall can have many remote roles without most of its jobs being remote. The field list does not show that share, so use it to find where remote roles exist, not to guess your odds of getting one.

Remote jobs 2026 by country: how the remote share differs#

Each country report has a remote share. JobRise calculates it from jobs whose source says whether the role is remote, and it counts remote roles limited to applicants in that country. So a remote job in the UK report is a role open to people who can work from the UK.

Here are the four country reports, with data as of November 2, 2026:

Country reportOpen jobsJobs from sources that mark remoteRemote share
United States379,511348,90121%
United Kingdom72,56026,94117%
Germany865,93221,88722%
India31,97024,39521%

The global report puts the remote share at 24%, a little higher than any of the four countries above. Here is how to read the country numbers:

  • The UK has the lowest remote share of the four, at 17%. If you are in the UK, widen your search to hybrid roles near you. Otherwise you will run out of remote listings quickly.
  • The US and India are both at 21%, and the base behind them is solid. Most US jobs in the report come from sources that mark remote work (348,901 of 379,511). India is similar, with 24,395 of 31,970.
  • Germany's 22% rests on a narrow base. Only 21,887 of 865,932 German jobs come from sources that mark remote work. Arbeitsagentur supplies 97% of the jobs in the German report, so the number mostly describes that one source's listings. Treat it as a signal, not a market total.

What this means for your search depends on where you live:

  • In the US, the remote share is 21% and most listings in the report come from sources that mark remote. Filter the remote board by your field, then check each listing's country line. Many US-based remote roles are open to US applicants only, so a remote tag alone does not tell you that you can apply from your state or city.
  • In the UK, the lower 17% share means remote roles are scarcer. Set a "remote" filter for the roles you want, but also save hybrid roles within commuting distance. A short list of remote matches is normal, and it is not a sign that your search is failing.
  • In Germany, the 22% share looks high, but it describes one source's listings more than the whole market. Check German job listings on the country report page, and do not assume that every remote tag means the same thing across sources.
  • In India, the 21% share is similar to the US. Many listings name several countries, so make sure yours is on the list before you tailor a resume to a role.

Listings also name countries directly, and that line decides whether your application counts. The samples include "Remote (Canada, United States)" and "Remote (Austria, Hungary, Poland)". One TE Connectivity listing names Afghanistan, Albania and Algeria, then 145 more countries. A long list means the employer hires across many places, but check that your country is on it before you spend an hour on the application.

What the sample listings show about remote roles#

Some patterns from the live remote board are worth knowing before you filter:

  • Contract and full-time both show up. micro1 posts video annotation and software developer roles on contract. Eleven LABS posts full-time remote roles.
  • "Flex" and "Global" roles are common in small teams. Motu Novu LLC lists virtual assistant, PHP developer and front-end developer roles on flex-time terms, tagged Global.
  • Some remote tags sit on office addresses. One Wipro technical lead listing in London is marked Remote and carries a London address. Read the job description for the real location rules instead of trusting the tag alone.
  • Customer support roles can ask for a second language. Everhelp's customer support specialist role is listed as German and English. If you have a second language, say so in the first lines of your resume.

Reading a remote listing before you apply#

A remote tag is the start of the read, not the end. Four things in the listing tell you whether it is worth an application:

  • The country line. It names who can apply. Read it before anything else, because it can rule you out in a second.
  • The location line. Some listings carry a city address and still say Remote. The Wipro London example in our sample shows this. Look for words like "eligible", "based in" or "must reside" in the description.
  • The contract type. Contract and full-time roles both appear on the board. Contract listings, such as the micro1 and Universe roles in our sample, may come with different pay and benefits terms, so check those before you spend time tailoring.
  • The time zone. A remote job that needs you online during a fixed window is a different job from one with flexible hours. Ask about the overlap in the first interview, not after an offer.

Listings from very large employers and small startups both appear on the board. Size does not tell you how remote a team is. The listing's own description and the interview process do.

How to make a remote application stand out#

A remote role draws people from many places. The application that makes your location, working hours and remote habits clear is the one a recruiter can place quickly. Here is what to do:

  1. Check the country line first. If your country is not in the "Remote" list, skip the role. Your application may be screened out before a person reads it.
  2. Put your location and time zone near the top of your resume. For example: "Based in Toronto, Canada, and available for remote work with a solid overlap with US Eastern time." Recruiters filter on this line, so make it easy to find.
  3. Mirror the listing's words. Copy the exact role names and skills from the listing, such as "channel account manager", "payroll", "full-stack" or "video annotation". Use them in your skills section and your bullets, but only where they are true.
  4. Lead with proof that you work without someone watching. Show a project you finished alone, a campaign you ran end to end, or a report you delivered on time. Keep each line factual and specific.
  5. Make your cover letter answer the remote question. Write one paragraph on how you handle time zones, how you set up your working day, and how you share progress in writing. Use the cover letter tool for a first draft, then rewrite it in your own voice.
  6. Pick proof that fits the field. For Data & AI, link a notebook or dashboard. For Software, link a repo or a live project. For Sales, give quota and pipeline results. For Marketing, give campaign results. For Customer support, give response times and ticket volume.
  7. Check the company before you send. Open the company's own career page, and read the listing's description for location and contract rules. If the company asks you to pay for training, equipment or a "starter kit", stop.

The field counts show where remote roles exist, not which skills they ask for. For the skills employers name most often in your country, check the skills demand pages before you pick a course.
