Quick check
Guess first, no penalty. A routing tool's plan is 40 minutes shorter than yesterday's. What should you check before it goes out?
Planning tools optimize what they're given: distance, time, cost. They don't see a dock that closes at four, the driving hours your country's rules allow, or a chilled load that can't ride with a hot one, unless someone entered those rules.
A plan that breaks a limit looks perfect on screen. It fails at the loading bay, or worse, on the road.
Before any AI plan runs, read it against three limits:
- Time windows: when each site opens and closes.
- People: driver hours, breaks, skills and who's off today.
- Load rules: temperature, weight and anything that can't travel together.
Worked example
Before and after
One stop in an AI delivery plan, before and after your check.
AI plan
Stop 6: Riverside Foods, arrive 16:20, unload 30 minutes.
The tool's plan was shorter and impossible. Yours is a little longer and works.
Fill the gaps
Fill the gaps in your plan check.
Before an AI plan runs
I check every stop against . I check driver hours against . I check loads for .
Try it
Your steps, about 2 minutes
- 1.Add the three limits to your AI check card. Then read one real plan, route or rota against them and mark anything that breaks.2 min
