What AI means for your operations career

Module 1: What AI already does in your job

Course outline

Quick check

Guess first, no penalty. Stanford's AI Index 2026 looked at where organizations expect AI to cut jobs. Which area was near the top?

Stanford's AI Index 2026 says: "One-third of organizations expect AI to reduce their workforce in the coming year, even though large-scale job losses have not yet shown up in overall employment data." It adds: "Anticipated reductions are highest in service operations, supply chain, and software engineering."

The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025 splits the field. Employers expect Delivery Drivers to be among the jobs with the largest growth, and Material-Recording and Stock-Keeping Clerks among the fastest declining. Both are expectations, driven by many trends, not AI alone.

The pattern: typing, copying and compiling shrinks. Checking plans, handling exceptions, managing suppliers and keeping people safe grows in value. That's what this course trains.
