Design Jobs in the US: Who's Hiring Right Now (Oct 2026)
You want to know who is actually hiring designers in the US right now, not vague talk about the industry. Here is a dated snapshot of live listings, taken 14 October 2026 from the JobRise live jobs feed (jobrise.io). These are counts of open listings, not a market survey, so read them as a picture of one feed on one day.
The design jobs hub for United States shows 187 open design listings. Of those, 112 were posted in the last 30 days, and 59 in the last 7 days. That is a fast-moving slice. Roughly a third of the current inventory is fresh this week.
Who is hiring right now#
Ten employers hold the most open design listings in this snapshot. Anthropic (10), Figma (10), Datadog (9), Robinhood (8), Okta (8), Gusto (6), Control Risks (6), Rallye Motor Company (6), Ramp (5), Palantir (5).
That list mixes AI and software companies with a security consultancy and a car dealership group. Anthropic and Figma lead with 10 listings each. Ramp is small in count but loud in scope: it is hiring a Product Designer, a Design Systems Lead, and a Design Engineer, plus a Lead Recruiter focused on design. Palantir has 5 listings and is one of the few employers naming new graduate roles.
Other companies show up in the feed with single openings that are worth knowing. Impact Theory has an Art Director seat open. CoCreativ wants a Senior Digital Designer in prestige beauty and skincare. Albireo Energy needs an Automation Engineer for EPMS design. Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors is hiring a Development Manager for design and construction. Felsburg Holt & Ullevig wants a Transportation Design Engineer at mid or senior level. Persimmons has a Silicon Design Engineer opening. Bandit Running is hiring a Junior Art Director. GoTymeX lists a Product Designer role focused on UI and design systems, though that one is based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, so treat it as out of scope unless you are relocating.

Where the jobs are#
New York (52) and San Francisco (36) hold nearly half of the 187 listings between them. Denver (7), Menlo Park (7), and Atlanta (6) follow. After those five, the rest of the country is thin.
If you are outside a hub, expect to compete for remote-friendly roles or plan a move. New York alone has more than double Atlanta's count. The concentration is real, and pretending otherwise wastes your week.
What the job-type mix says#
Full-time (184), Contract (2), Part-time (1). That is it. Contract and part-time work together account for 3 listings out of 187.
Read that as a market where employers want long-term hires, not project staff. Agencies and staffing firms appear in the feed, but the roles they carry are mostly permanent seats. If you were hoping to string together freelance contracts here, the data is not with you this month.
The mix also shows big tech and late-stage startups dominating. Anthropic, Figma, Datadog, Robinhood, Okta, Palantir, and Ramp together account for 55 of the 187 listings. Public sector shows up only indirectly, through Palantir's "Product Designer, New Grad - US Government" role. Traditional design agencies barely register.
What pay looks like on the listings#
Only 9 of 187 listings show pay at all. Where it is shown, the numbers are high. "Product Designer" at Patreon: $190.5K, $286K • Offers Equity. "Design Engineer" at Cohere: $180K, $245K • Offers Equity • Multiple Ranges. "Design Systems Lead" at Ramp: $280K, $385K • Offers Equity. "Product Design Manager" at Patreon: $266K, $398.5K • Offers Equity. "Design Engineer" at Ramp: $172K, $440K • Offers Equity. "Lead Recruiter | Design" at Ramp: $158K, $230K • Offers Equity.
Treat these as what a handful of employers chose to publish, not as a market rate. Ranges vary widely by level, city, and equity mix. Check current official postings and the Hiring Report for United States for broader context: across all categories the country shows 13,720 open listings, with 8,471 posted in the last 30 days.
Entry-level openings are scarce#
Four of 187 listings use intern, graduate, junior, or trainee titles. Examples: "Junior Art Director" at Bandit Running, "Product Designer, New Grad - US Government" at Palantir, "Product Designer, New Grad" at Palantir.
That is a hard truth. Entry-level design seats are rare in this feed. If you are early career, widen your target to adjacent roles, and be ready to show real shipped work rather than school projects.
Worked example: rewriting a bullet for a product design role#
Suppose your current bullet reads: "Responsible for improving the onboarding flow and working with engineers on design system updates."
Rewrite it with scope and result: "Redesigned the 5-step onboarding flow for a 2M-user fintech app, cutting drop-off at step 3 by 18% over two quarters, and shipped 40 reusable components into the shared design system with the platform team."
The second version names the product surface, the scale, the outcome, and the collaboration. Recruiters skimming for "design system" or "onboarding" will find the keywords without you stuffing them.
How to apply this week#
Apply direct whenever the company posts the role on its own site. Third-party listings lag, and your application can sit in a queue nobody reads. Go to the employer's careers page, find the same role, and submit there.
Mirror the listing's own language. If the posting says "design system" three times and "UI" twice, those words belong in your resume and portfolio captions. Do not invent keywords, just reflect the ones they used.
Run your resume through the free ATS checker before you send it. Most of these employers run applicant tracking systems, and a resume that parses badly never reaches a human.
A 7-step plan#
- Pick 10 target roles from the 187 listings, favoring the 59 posted in the last 7 days.
- Rewrite your resume for each role, mirroring the exact keywords from the posting.
- Draft one portfolio case study per target role type, with scope, decisions, and results.
- Apply direct on each employer's careers page, not only through job boards.
- Run your resume through the free ATS checker and fix parsing errors before submitting.
- Track every application in a spreadsheet: company, role, date applied, contact, follow-up date.
- Follow up once after 7 days, then move on. Do not wait on one employer.
FAQ#
Which companies have the most design openings right now?
Anthropic (10) and Figma (10) lead this 14 October 2026 snapshot, followed by Datadog (9), Robinhood (8), and Okta (8). Gusto, Control Risks, and Rallye Motor Company each show 6.
Are there remote design jobs in this snapshot?
The data does not separate remote from on-site roles. City counts show heavy concentration in New York (52) and San Francisco (36), so assume on-site or hybrid unless a listing says otherwise.
How many design jobs are full-time?
184 of 187 listings are full-time. Contract roles account for 2 listings and part-time for 1.
Is now a good time to apply for design jobs?
112 of the 187 listings were posted in the last 30 days, and 59 in the last 7 days, so there is fresh activity in this feed. That said, entry-level titles appear in only 4 listings, so junior candidates should widen their search.
