Compare products from spec sheets with AI

Module 1: What AI already does in your job

Course outline

Quick check

Guess first, no penalty. You ask an AI tool to compare two kettles for a customer. Which line in your request does most to stop a wrong answer?

AI chat tools (apps that write answers to what you type) on a phone can compare two products from their spec sheets. A spec sheet is the maker's list of a product's details, like size, power and features.

A prompt for a product question

A prompt is the message you type into the tool. Here is one that works when you have a minute and the spec sheets.

A customer wants a kettle for a small office of 8 people.
Here are the spec sheets for the two kettles we stock: [paste].
Compare capacity, power and auto shut-off in a short table.
Use only the spec sheets. Write "not listed" if a detail is missing.

Then check the box or the shelf label before you answer the customer.

The last two lines of that prompt do the most work. They make the tool less likely to fill gaps with guesses, which is where wrong product answers come from. They don't rule guesses out, so you still check the label.

Fill the gaps

Fill the gaps so the tool sticks to the facts you gave it.
