What stays with you: sign-off, stamps and safety calls
Module 3: The judgment calls and your portfolio piece
Course outline
Quick check
Guess first, no penalty. AI drafts a calculation note for a made-up pump base. Who checks it and takes responsibility for it?
Some sign-offs never leave your hands
AI can draft, tidy and suggest. It can't stamp a drawing, sign a calculation, accept risk for a client or make a safety call. Those belong to the named person who is responsible for the work.
These stay with a person:
Stamps and signatures on calculations and drawings.
Safety calls, such as whether a hazard is controlled well enough to work near.
Choosing the standard your project must follow.
The final figure that goes on site or into an order.
A worked example
Before and after
Switch between the AI draft and the line you sign.
AI draft
Calculations checked. Base design adequate for the pump.
Line you sign
Checked by [name], [role], against the standard our project uses, on [date]. I take responsibility for the result, and I checked the loads and site conditions myself.
The line you sign names the check, the standard and the person. The AI draft claims a check that nobody did.
Your turn
Fill the gaps
Fill each gap in the sign-off line.
Sign-off line
Checked against the Choose, by me.
I Choose.

Question 2 of 2
AI suggests that a site can skip a temporary barrier, because the drawing doesn't show one. What do you do?
