Quick check
Guess first, no penalty. An AI chat tool gives you a statistic with a link for a client slide. What do you do?
AI chat tools such as ChatGPT (apps that write answers to what you type) are weakest where you need exact truth rather than fluent text. And they rarely sound unsure unless you ask them to.
- Exact facts, numbers, quotes, links and citations (the sources it says it used). The model can invent a quote that sounds real or a link that looks right and goes nowhere.
- Recent events. Anything after the training cutoff may be missing or guessed.
- Your private context. It can't see your inbox, your company wiki or last week's call unless you paste them in.
- Long chains of arithmetic. One calculation is usually fine. Several steps in a row can go wrong, so check the total yourself.
- Niche topics. Well-known subjects are covered well. A rare machine part or a small local rule may get a thin or invented answer.
