Never trust AI on allergens

Module 1: What AI already does on a hotel or restaurant shift

Course outline

Quick check

Guess first, no penalty. A guest asks whether the garlic bread at a made-up restaurant, The Larkspur, contains nuts. The menu says only "bread, garlic". What is the right answer?

An allergen is an ingredient that can cause a serious reaction, such as nuts, shellfish, milk, eggs or gluten. One wrong word can hurt a guest.

AI doesn't know your recipes. It can't see the supplier label, the sauce that changed last week, or the pan that also cooks fish. It can also write an answer that sounds certain and is wrong. That is called a hallucination (a confident answer that is false).

So for allergens, AI is never the source. A prompt is the message you type into the tool, so put the kitchen's sheet in it and use the tool only to word the answer.

A worked example

Guest question: Does the chicken pasta contain nuts or gluten?
Only answer from the allergen sheet below. If the sheet doesn't say, reply that you'll check with the kitchen and come back to them. Don't guess.
Allergen sheet (updated 3 Nov, made up): Chicken pasta contains gluten and milk. No nuts. Sauce is made in a pan that also cooks fish.

Your turn

Fill the gaps

Fill each gap so the answer comes from the sheet, not a guess.

Prompt
